Boehner, Cantor Announce House Fast & Furious Contempt Vote Next Week Posted by Speaker Boehner Press Office June 20, 2012 Press Release
WASHINGTON, DC House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) issued the following statement after the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee approved a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt for his refusal to turn over subpoenaed documents related to the Fast & Furious operation:
Despite being given multiple opportunities to provide the documents necessary for Congress investigation into Fast and Furious, Attorney General Holder continues to stonewall. Today, the Administration took the extraordinary step of exerting executive privilege over documents that the Attorney General had already agreed to provide to Congress. Fast and Furious was a reckless operation that led to the death of an American border agent, and the American people deserve to know the facts to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again. While we had hoped it would not come to this, unless the Attorney General reevaluates his choice and supplies the promised documents, the House will vote to hold him in contempt next week. If, however, Attorney General Holder produces these documents prior to the scheduled vote, we will give the Oversight Committee an opportunity to review in hopes of resolving this issue.
Any Republican who votes against this resolution should be defeated in November.

So little Miss Johnie is at it again. Delays the vote to give Holder more time and HIMSELF more time to settle for a half-assed, ludicrous compromise which will undoubtedly let Holder and Obama off the hook!!!
This is a disgrace.

The interesting thing to see will be if they pick up a few Democrats.
That’s what I read too.

Scott Walker. The winds are shifting.
from the Hill blog.....
The Congressional Tri-Caucus, meanwhile, condemned the move as politics at its worst. The caucus consists of nearly 80, mostly Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
Tri-caucus??? How about the white caucus? How about the kenyan caucus? aborigini caucus? eskimo caucus? cracker caucus? cherokee caucus?
Testosterone is not involved. They have none.
What this means is that they have incontrovertible evidence or an unimpeachable whistle-blower.
Both Holder and Obama are going down.
i like that did not set the day... save hanging holder till 2 days after the court rules on obamacare
Why not today or tomorrow? This sounds like a Johny Boy wussout.
I suspect you will see quite a few Democrats from flyover country voting for it. Not for any noble reasons, but because their afraid of the NRA.
Delays the vote??
They’re voting on it next week, not next month.
The Obamacare decision! Excellent point.
Boehner giving Holder and Obozo cover for more delays, negotiations, etc. I read yesterday that the House had the votes it needed to pass the contempt resolution if it was received from Committee. There’s no reason not to give it a full vote today, let alone tomorrow. Why some hand-waving promise of “sometime next week?” We need to clean house in the House!
So Boner needs a week to let this cool off to give him an out. I’m sure he is hoping that somehow this vote will just go away in the next week. I’m not saying he will sabatoge the effort. This just looks like Boner added in a cooling off period hoping that Holder will magically please Issa so Boner won’t have to do any heavy lifting here.
Of course the media will work hard to spin a Holder contempt of Congress citation as a racist witch hunt of an innocent man. Whatever. They are the enemy and we have to treat them like the enemy.
Obama sure is an amateur. He is pushing this issue right into the election where it can be used against him.
