Nah. Once he'd dropped the gun and left, she should have picked up the gun and they should have gone home. Can't just leave a gun laying around, y'know, that'd be unsafe....
A few years back I found a rifle bullet in the parking lot of where I worked that was sticking up at about an 80-degree angle. It had obviously been fired into the air at a steep angle. It had mushroomed appreciably from impact with the asphalt. I seriously doubt that anyone hit in the head by it would have survived.
Granted, the probability of hitting someone is pretty low, but when you fire into the air you are saying that you are willing to take the chance that you will accidentally kill someone because you are special.
And if you do kill someone by firing into the air, are you saying that you should not be prosecuted for negligent homicide?
I’m ok with that, I just don’t trust the media telling us she was shooting “indiscriminately in the air”.
I’m appalled at the number of people here these days that quote the media as fact and base their opinions on it.
“Ask any CCW instructor about the advisability of firing into the air, Einstein.”
I’ll give you two for one.
You’re a moron and imbecile for for believing what you read in the media.
You and Islamofascist camel-humping retards have a lot in common.
I wonder if they keyed the guys car afterward...
&&&
Probably wasn’t even the perp’s car. I’d be willing to bet that he just cased the street for a few days to decide which bait car to use for his ad.
So true.
Uh... The police said she fired indiscriminately into the air. Arrested her for it.
No argument on either point.
Is a “bullit” the same thing as a “bullet”?
“Why do we choose to believe ANYTHING the leftist freaks in the media write?
Uh... The police said she fired indiscriminately into the air. Arrested her for it.”
Uh... NO.
The media put some quotes around some words and SAID the police said that.
YOU chose to believe it.
E pluribus unum doesn’t get it, either, and resorted to name calling when he had NOTHING else.
Why is it that many alleged conservatives here INSIST on believing ANYTHING reported by the media?
Just because they put some quote marks around outrageous statements?!
What is your PROBLEM?!?!
“What???? Who are they kidding??? They arrest the victim??? for shooting into the air??? They were probably mad that they didn’t get to use their chalk.”
Several here not only believe the story as written by the media, but also vehemently agree that the VICTIM should have been arrested for shooting “indiscriminately in the air” because that’s the way the media reported it, with the quotes around shooting “indiscriminately in the air” so it MUST be true, because it was about wonderful wonderful wonderful cops and had quotes around it.
And e pluribus unum is happy to call names here if we don’t believe it exactly as written.
It sounds like they should have met up in broad daylight in a more public place. If selling something like jewelry or firearms it is probably a good idea to keep your address to yourself as well and make sure you are not followed home. All obvious precautions.
We are commenting on the story as written. It is a given that all the facts are not in the story.
You seem to consider yourself to be clairvoyant and aware of things that are not in the article.
“You seem to consider yourself to be clairvoyant and aware of things that are not in the article.”
NOPE, I just have a healthy distrust of anything written by the media and have only expressed doubt as to the story as it as written.
If you’d bothered to have read my posts on this thread, all I DIVINED from the article as written was that she MISSED and was arrested.
YOU have been the offensive unapologetic intolerant one, and you’ve called me “Islamofascist camel-humping retard” for no other reason than my opinion differing from yours.
You’re remoselessly behaving just like the leftists.
Tsk, tsk.
According to the graph, that is not true.
One figure I noticed when I was looking all this up is that about 9.4% of accidents are ascribed to "distracted driving". Of course maybe the real figure is a little higher. I agree that texting must be a significant portion of this. So the fatality figures would be even better if it weren't for the explosion in texting in the last five years. On the other hand, many states are now outlawing cell phone use while driving, so talking on the phone may have declined a little.
I do think the price of gas has something to do with it, but that speaks to the economy. And the drop actually started just as we were getting wind that a bubble was crashing. I start the significant decline in 2007.
It's not clear what the economy has to do with the drop in the number of fatalities per billion miles (don't want to dig this up again but it's with the fatality figures on Wikipedia). Maybe people are are driving slower to save gas, or they're not in a hurry to get anywhere and they're getting more sleep because they don't have jobs.
I don't know how plausible this is but some articles I saw claimed that there were some adjustments to SUVs that make them hit smaller cars lower down and this has resulted in fewer deaths.
