Settle down, Fauxcahontas.
(Boston Herald) On their first day in the Hub, a group of Cherokees hoping to confront Elizabeth Warren over her Native American heritage claims blasted the Democrat for trying to dismiss the ancestry controversy as a non-issue in the Bay State U.S. Senate race.
Poverty, teen suicide, our health care system, said Cherokee genealogist Twila Barnes in an interview today with the Herald. Those are issues and those are the people she stepped on and used to benefit and now she says its not an issue. Well, of course, to her its not an issue because she doesnt want to address that she did this.
Ali Sacks, a Cherokee from Warrens home state of Oklahoma, had harsher words: Its cowardly to ride the coattails of people who have lost so much for your own benefit and not accomplish what you can accomplish on your own benefits. I think its shameful and extremely disrespectful not just to Cherokees but to all tribes who have given so much to this country historically and lost so much.
Four Cherokee women are in Boston for four days hoping to arrange a meeting with Warren. A spokeswoman for the Warren campaign told the Herald Sunday a staff member would greet the group, but the women told the Herald this morning theyve still heard nothing from the campaign. [...]

The most telling aspect is, my wife has always just listed herself as 'white' on any documentation she's filled out, when could have legitimately checked 'Native American' if she wanted to exploit it for personal gain. Warren has gotten by in life by exploiting a hearsay biological marker that wouldn't amount to a fart in a hurricane even if it
did exist. Sometimes I think she ought to run for office - she's one of those gunslinger management types that corporate likes to transfer from one place to another to 'straighten shit out', if you get my drift.
"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their hearts desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

I always liked “Paints his shirt red” for a name. I think that was in Jeremiah Johnson. It has the same form as a name I heard of that was given ( according to this story ) to a geologist, who, being pursued by Indians, paused to procure a sample and was subsequently caught by his pursuers. They were astounded to see that he was carrying a bag of rocks while in flight for his life, and what’s more paused to add to it. They named him “Picks up rocks running” and released him, in honor of his insanity.

I did not know that John Loudermilk wrote that song, as I only recall the late 60's schlock version. I liked his version a lot more. Thank you.
This may be his best known song, though many may not associate it with him:
