President Barack Obama's high-profile shift on immigration last week announcing plans to grant temporary legal status to as many as 800,000 undocumented people brought to American soil as children has the overwhelming support of likely voters in a new Bloomberg poll released Tuesday.
Sixty-four percent of them and 66% of independents, the frequently up-for-grabs voters thought to decide elections support the president's decision. The White House has forcefully (and rather implausibly) denied that Obama sought political gain from his announcement. But as recently as March 2011, he had said publicly that he lacked the power to halt such deportations.
The Bloomberg survey found that just 30 percent of likely voters disagreed with the president's plan. Fifty-six percent of likely Republican voters opposed it, while 86% of Democrats supported it. Just 26% of independents sided with the Republican majority in the poll.

I wonder how they'll feel when it's their kids who won't be able to find jobs once these "newly minted citizens" start bringing their relatives over that are still in mexico?
It's all great to be compassionate when it doesn't effect you, but poverty tends to have a "trickle up" effect. Depress the living standards in one sector of the economy and it works its way across the economy. Kind of like a falling tide dropping all boats.
I hope I'm making sense but this story just bugs me on so many levels.
I’m sure the voters will be really pleased with the violent criminals who will be included in that group.
Well, obviously they didn’t poll Mitch McConnell.
I hear he’s pretty unhappy.
Sounds like a “Push Poll” to me.
Rrriiiggghhhtt!
Who did they ask? Democrats posing as republicans, liberals and illegals? Just as they are having democrats register as republicans. This is nothing more than the extreme leftwingers pandering for votes for their messiah.
How many polls did they have to conduct before they found this one that gave the results they were looking for?
All you have to do to get these results is to man the phones with hispanic sounding poll takers.
Voters will never know that Obama’s people will be at the border giving work permits to everyone coming across the border ,the executive order just gives them the go ahead
Dont know, but they apparently found 7 people to photograph for the story.
Yep...And Romney's people will be there handing out job applications for cheap(er) labor...
I don’t think YAHOOOOOO reads their own comment boards....I got a sense from the comments that I saw that this was NOT all that popular....but, then, that is not a sample of illegal hispanics.
I remember all the yeas when gun control was a from burner topic. Harris kept coming out with one faked poll after another showing how great numbers of Americans favored handgun confiscation or, barring that, universal gun registration and licensing. But, DUH, come voting days, all th referenda for confiscation and/or licensing were voted down and gn grabbing politicians kept being defeated.
Remember the source, Bloomberg, who favors illegal aliens.
LOL
How amazing that they can find illegals to photograph, but they can’t find them when it comes time to deport them. Just amazing.
Give me a break...every poll I saw INCLUDING CBS LOS ANGELES showed anwhere between 76 and 81% OPPOSED. This is typical libtard media horsecrap.
Polls of this type are useless for anything other than the propaganda effect. People are not going to tell the truth when asked their opinion on something like this.
The Bloomberg survey: “poppycock”—Dutch. warm horse droppings.
The only POLL I pay attention to comes in early November.
You are spot on. They are trying their darndest to make people believe their tripe. Just like they were caught with their lefthanded exit polls. I just pray people are wide awake, or at least coming out of their obama induced stupor.
