Three high-profile Democrats from West Virginia are not planning to attend the Democratic National Convention in September.
Sen. Joe Manchin, Rep. Nick Rahall and Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin have opted not to go to the convention in Charlotte, according to a West Virginia Democratic Party press release.
President Barack Obama is not popular in the state, and in 2010, Manchin ran a TV ad openly attacking the administration on cap-and-trade. Manchin, who is on the ballot again in November and does not face a difficult race, had already said this spring he wasnt sure he would vote for Obamas re-election.

We hear that you have to show your photo ID when trying to get into the convention. But you don’t have to show it when you vote.......that’s discrimination.
Coal miners in WV will sink Obozo there.
Phony balonies pretending not to be democrat Party douchebags.
Yet he has done nothing to stop this administration. Obama is bad, but it's his enablers in the Congress that has allowed this to happen the problem isn't just Obama it's the entire Democrat party that must be replaced as well as some Republicans.
Harry has given Joe Manchin ‘show votes’ that don’t matter so Joe can look ‘independent’ from Obama.
Joe Manchin owes everything to Harry Reid.
When reelected he will be in Harry’s pocket even more than he is now.
What a con on West Virginia voters.
I must repeat... I continue to see both miner and Obama 2012 stickers here in coal miner country. When it comes to that union paycheck, we have nothing to offer.
Come on over to the GOP guys.
Gas prices are a killer.
Yeah, just what the spineless GOP needs, three more votes for big labor, more welfare, and higher taxes for all. I've got lots of relatives in Randolph County, I can get them to express true conservative principles, but hey, Jay Rockefeller always responds to their letters so they gotta vote for Jay. Just like Northern Michigan used to vote for Bart the Bastard Stupak because he "seems like he knows what he's doin'". But, hey, they probably all get an NRA A rating on 2A, not so much on the rest of that pesky Constitution.
Admitting this is silly before I even post it, it would be a real hoot if Obama and the DNC were the only people present at this convention.
Can’t wait to see the First Raving Idiot give her address on food. /s
Racists!!
Pray for America
***Cowardly Democrats Alert***
Would this be considered heckling the prez?
Weasels.

Unions don’t write paychecks, employers do. No employers=no checks=no union dues.
Here in WI, the Green donks are trying to shut down gravel and sand mining. Of course, copper and iron, too. Not huge sectors of the economy, but vital to many different industries in different areas.
If they succeed, then there are no jobs, no checks and no need for unions.
I guess I just don’t get it about union power, unless it is the intimidation factor.
I don’t get it myself.. except it is like the social security ponzi scheme. Unions pay a great deal more money than many many jobs for equally qualified candidates. The intimidation factor, I do not see outwardly. They use terms such as “living wage” and other fuzzy math techniques. At the end of the day, do you have a conservative plan alternate to the grossly overpaid, over compensated workers? Nope. So until we can offer an alternative, it is union central. No employers= no paychecks scenario only works when there are no employers. That simply is not happening in coal country.
If the mines are shut down, where are the jobs? If the EPA makes coal mining uneconomical, where are the employers?
Are you saying that the mines will continue to operate and employ just as many as in the pre-war-on-coal era?
We are a union state here in WI, too. Yet, the surface rock, sand and metallic ore mines get shut down and the jobs disappear, union or no union.
How does it matter that a union purports to guarantee a living wage when the employer cannot produce and therefore doesn’t need to employ anyone, at any wage?
Mining is dangerous, especially sub-surface mining. It has become technical. I would think that trained miners simply would not even apply for a job like that if it didn’t pay adequately and provide for safety concerns, union or no.
I agree.. IF the mines are shut down. They are not. Obama simply pledged to bankrupt any new coal producers. I am confident the existing producers are reaping the benefits of decreased competition. I am simply saying, here in WV there are many many Obama 2012 bumper stickers right next to miner stickers. I work with miners and their families. They are not becoming Conservatives. They are wishing they had another candidate than Obama.. and now they have Romney. I am grateful for the folks in Wisconsin who put their principles above their paycheck.. I wish it would happen here, but it seems less likely.
