The political world is a-twitter about the president's recent statements on the condition of the economy.
You know, the one where President Barack Obama said the private sector is "doing fine." Well, that one was not received in the way it was intended. In fact, it generated so much ridicule that a few hours later the president again took to the public stage in order to correct his initial assessment. The subsequent damage control statement did little to calm the political waters, however. But it did a lot to illuminate this president's state of mind regarding job creation and the private sector.
It was in the second media hit that the president reminded us of his true world view. To wit, that while there is hurt in the private sector, the real problems with our economy concern the austerity measures instituted by state and local governments over the past few years. In essence, the economy suffers because we don't have enough government in our lives. (And this despite a massive public sector spending binge pursuant to his stimulus bill.)
Such a non sequitur requires further investigation into the president's psyche.
That the president is an intelligent man is beyond dispute. That his life experiences are (almost) wholly outside the private sector is equally true. For those in doubt, recall the resume: college, law school, community organizer, law school lecturer, author, state senator, U.S. senator and president. Private sector experience is limited to a part-time associate's position at a Chicago law firm while a member of the Illinois legislature.
His youthful and early adulthood associations have been well reported if not so well analyzed. These included relationships with the ultra progressive likes of poet Frank Marshall Davis,

Then I recognized the author as the last balanced governor of Maryland.
Really?
Perhaps Mr Ehrlich could give us some examples.
Obama said: “The private sector is doing fine”
Obama said: “The Economy is hurting”
By my math: Public sector + Private sector = the economy
If the private sector is doing fine and the economy is hurting then - to Obama - the public sector is where the problems lie.
See, he didn’t really “walk back” his statement about the private sector being “fine”. He just did some liberal word play to make it sound like he did.
I wouldn’t call it a gaffe but Obama simply giving his opinion based upon how he desires the world to be.
He hates individual, free enterprise capitalism and his various actions at stamping it out with the expected downturn of jobs being lost is great in his opinion.
At the same time government job growth is increasing. He loves government controlling the capital of this country and making government bigger allows that happen.
It would be nice to have a prez who loves free-enterprise capitalism over state-controlled capitalism but were stuck with him until this November.
Even if Romney is elected, since he is a Progressive just like Obama, don’t expect it to change much.
And by 'his people' I'm not referring to race, I mean anyone who's decided to live as a parasite on the back of the private economy as an alternative to taking their chances in the free market system.
It's a bit of "damning with faint praise".
Also, Ehrlich is not writing an FR or blog rant for people that already don't like Obama anyway, which is a pointless waste of time.
He's trying to write a persuasive opinion piece that at least has the chance of changing the mind of an Obama supporter. They're not going to keep reading past "Obama is a complete idiot."
Something about the need to keep saying this in the media strikes me as desperate. It is actually part of a form of speaking in some circles. I liken it to a necessary statement like the Muslims saying, “Allahu Akbar ASSALAMU ALAIKUM” every time they meet or the norks calling their despot,”Dear Leader” all the time. I see these as reflexive sayings that bubble up in tyrannical situations. Like being a reporter in America today living under political correctness.
Well, he IS THE SMARTEST MAN IN THE ROOM, when you consider who else is in the room.............
Public sector + Private sector = the economy
Should be:
Private sector - Public sector = (what's left of) the economy
The President knows nothing about life or
reality.
What he knows is IDEOLOGY!!
He wants to promote the Government (public sector)
viz-a-viz the Private Sector.
To do this, the Private sector MUST BE ALRIGHT!
SO IT IS!!
That’s the way he thinks.
I will dispute that. I have grown weary of the polite stipulation of Obama's (or anyone else's) intelligence on the matter of the economy. The approach of the utopian left has been tried. Repeatedly. And it has failed. And every single time it is tried it results in totalitarianism and the death of hundreds, thousands and often millions of individual human beings who somehow did not fit the ruling power's definition of a good citizen.
So, IMHO, anyone who believes in the so-called progressive solution is either:
a. deluded and insane
b. willfully attempting to subvert the freedom, liberty and well-being of the individual
c. ignorant of history
or
c. STUPID.
There is no such thing as "intelligent, but..."
Let’s look at this issue from an “Obama” standpoint.
He hates “free enterprise.” Maybe because that leaves the owner of the enterprise free to hire and fire based on merit?
He loves public sector jobs. Perhaps because he can control, through the government, the percentages of those employed. If they don’t have enough of “his “ people, the government can step in and demand that more be not only hired, but promoted to top level positions.
I am certainly not saying that minorities are not capable of doing the job or that they don’t have the desire to do a good job. I have worked with minorities who are stand-outs within their organization, but Obama has a chip on his shoulder and wants percentages, not performance. He also seems to fall into that category of race baiter who may have contempt for anyone who actually earns their position - and those minorities who earned their positions are no better than “white boys” in his estimation. Sorry - but that is just the way I see Obama.
Hell, he can't write a coherent paragraph.
Oh, I'll dispute that contention! I haven't seen ANY evidence of intelligence in Barack Obama!
"What they'll say is, 'Well it costs too much money,' but you know what?
It would cost, about.
It it would cost about the same as what we would spend. It.
Over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us.
All right. Okay. We're going to do it. It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about hold on one second. I can't hear myself. But I'm glad you're fired up, though. I'm glad. "~Barack Obama
“That the president is an intelligent man is beyond dispute.”
Provide me some evidence. As it is now, in a court of law, he cannot be convicted of passing any class or graduating any school because no records are public. NONE.
Why does everyone think Obama is intelligent? Obama strikes me as one of the “Hollywood Intellectuals”, one of these cool cats who sits and waxes poetic about national affairs but actually only has a HS education, and it becomes glaringly obvious when he is taken off-script.
His goal is turn American into a fascist state where big business in conjunction with big unions controlled by government....run the country....
So in his mind....the private sector is doing great because it exists...
That the president is an intelligent man is beyond dispute.
really?
