SANFORD, Fla. (MCT) For weeks, the death of Trayvon Martin, the investigations it launched and the civil rights rallies it spurred were the most important news stories in the country, according to pollsters. At least six news organizations or polling companies did surveys. What they documented, in general, was that people were fascinated and outraged by the Feb. 26 death of the unarmed 17-year-old and angry at the shooter, Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Two sets of findings, though, stand out: Although it was the No. 1 story in the country overall, twice as many blacks as whites singled it out as the country's most important story, according to the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press. And as time has passed and more evidence has been released, people's feelings about Zimmerman have eased. In late March, while people were still marching in the streets demanding his arrest, 33 percent of the country believed Zimmerman was guilty of murder, according to a poll by Rasmussen Reports. ... Which sounds like even weirder double talk, like “we ask only for legal expenses but by george it’ll go for what the original website asked for.”
The further we go the more fog there is.
This is actually pretty darn grammatically correct. Unfortunately grammatical statements can be made that are still nonsense.
“ARE YOU ANY BETTER, CLINGING TO ONE VERSION OF THE WEB SITE WHICH CHANGED AND ACTING AS IF THAT COVERED ALL?”
FOR NOT IDIOTICALLY REPEATING THE LATEST ANTI-Z PROPAGANDA IN CAPS AND BEING ANGRY AT Z, NOT FOR KILLYING T BUT FOR TRYING TO FINANCIALLY SURVIVE WHILE LOCKED UP FOR BEING GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNCOCENT?
“Clinging” as in “clinging to guns and religion” would that be?
They’re so easy to spot. They can’t help themselves.
If there’s any fog, it’s in your head. I hope you clear it out before posting again on this topic.
After being proven wrong, you’re reduced to analyzing the statement itself. George Zimmerman is not in trouble right now, legally, for “fraud” or any other nonsense you’ve decided on. Until he is, I suggest you back off this argument.
Folks, I can see why some of you join the government in assessing blame on Zimmerman for using donated funds in ways you think are wrong. I’d like to ask you to think about some things you may not have considered.
Zimmerman had elevated bills immediately upon this incident taking place. The media portrayed him as a racist killer, and had him convicted until the truth started leaking out.
He and his wife had to go into hiding. He was unable to work. I’m sure he had to spend a lot of funds to travel, hide, and house themselves.
Would it be okay if Zimmerman got off on these charges, but was completely ruined because of his employment situation and the increased expenses that he had to cover out of pocket?
I’m not here to defend a criminal, but it seems to me that some of us are just fine with Zimmerman being destroyed, just so long as he doesn’t spend any of that money outside of his legal defense.
I would like to suggest that it is not of a criminal nature to use some of those funds to keep your head above water. if I sent money to Zimmerman and he spend part of his and his wife afloat, I would consider the funds used for good purpose, and consider the efforts to tarnish his character as vile.
It has really bothered the Justice Department that they couldn’t run this guy down destroying him in the process.
Is this guy abusing the system, or is the system abusing this guy?
IMO, this guy is getting railroaded. One way or another, they are setting it up so this guy goes to prison.
IMO, that is what is of a criminal in nature here.
What part of those words escape your understanding. Furthermore those funds so raised are currently in a Trust account for his living expenses and legal expenses. They couldn't be in that account if they had not originally been raised for those two purposes.
Forget the trial regarding the actual shooting...This is now about their finances...This is so typical of government with millions at their disposal to investigate and pursue them.
They are attempting to beat these two to death in the media, prior to the trial. If they can delay the trial for another 10 or 30 weeks, who knows what dirt can be found to discredit them!
Because (like I) you think George Zimmerman should not even have been hauled into court, does that automatically endue you with lack of reproach-ability?
“Your mischaracterization only discredits yourself, a shame to the cause of righteousness,”
LOL — TOO funny!!!!!
Please keep those buzzwords coming!
“Buzzword” is itself a buzzword, hypocrite.
“Your mischaracterization only discredits yourself, a shame to the cause of righteousness”
I’m still laughing!
NO right winger talks like that.
You all can’t help yourselves — please keep these attacks coming!
“The cause of righteousness” — GOOD ONE!
This for ill or otherwise is a part of the sausage machine that is called the Florida court system. And it’s, er, echoed in states across the country. If “we the people” want a fairer system, one which doesn’t require suing after having been ruined by doo-doo process, then we should get constitutional amendments requiring it.
Look, they transfered 85K from the paypal to their personal bank accounts, and they did it in multiple transactions, with six being just under 10K. Why would they do that? Because transactions over 10K are automatically reported to the govnernment. They then paid off their debts with the money. I don’t think most people would have imagined that “living expenses” would include paying off Mrs. Z’s student loans. And they were clearly trying to hide what they were doing.
Once again, I believe Zimmerman acted in self defense. I think the prosecution is political, and the prosecutor shold be charged with malicious prosection. That doesn’t require me to defend any sleazy thing the Zimmermans may have done.
Surely a liberal must have penned in the Star Spangled Banner the words “and conquer we must, when our cause it is just” — how horribly stilted! That can never be the product of a sane mind! (HEAVY HEAVY SARCASM)
You make a valid point here. I’m inclined to side with your line of thinking.
Do you broadcast your financial transactions???
They have stripped this man of his ability to work and service that debt. If the Zimmermans eliminated enough debt that his wife could service the leftover, do you still think that is criminal in nature?
Is it your premise that donors didn’t want to see Zimerman unfairly sent to prison, but didn’t care if he was destroyed financially? You don’t think they cared if he lost his home, defaulted on his debt, and had his credit destroyed? You don’t think they would support helping to pay his expenses related to hiding from those who wanted to do them harm?
I support Zimmerman. I haven’t sent any money, but I don’t want to see him destroyed by any means.
I fully believe him using that money to try to remain solvent while not earning an income, is within the spirit of the intent of folks sending in money to help him.
The government to which large transactions would get reported in this case would mean whom? Taxing authorities? (There’s no way they could expect to not have to pay taxes.) The goons whose office is that of sniffing out drug money? (It would be pretty clear this is not drug money.) Seems to me that if it was properly purposed according to the premises publicly promised when it was Paypal’ed (and peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers) that they ought not care even if this was itemized on a public web site.
Yeah, I’d agree that paying off a student loan is pushing the boundaries of “living expenses” a bit.
It’s up to the donors, who could also simply mail him checks if they wanted. As for being ruined it stinks clear to the planet Neptune (Pluto is no longer a planet) but hopefully there will be a giant lawsuit launched against everyone from Corey to Barack Obama when this is all over. But socialistic thinking has limits.
