Adidas has sparked outrage and been accused of 'promoting slavery' by creating a new pair of trainers which have bright orange 'shackles' that fit around the wearer's ankles.
The clothing giant is under fire for its August scheduled release of the JS Roundhouse Mids, which many have compared to the devices worn by black slaves in 19th Century America.
The seemingly innocent promotional material, uploaded to Facebook earlier this month, asks: 'Got a sneaker game so hot you lock your kicks to your ankles?'

If Adidas would just wrap the shackles and chains in dollar bills like the welfare state does then it would be OK.

Not sure if this is a spoof, but if not there must be some seriously dumb people at Adidas.
Apart from the stupidity of this kind of thing, no one ought to be allowed to drive a car with these things on. It would be a hazard.
They look like the shackles that came on My Pet Monster, a stuffed toy one of my kids had back in the early 80s.
They also might remind one of the chain gang shackles that were common during the last century in democrat party controlled areas of the old South.
Slave shackles indeed.
This seems to be great addition to the urban chic droopy prison pants with striped under wear. I’m thinking they’ve hit a money maker.

Sad thing is if black kids start wearing them today, white kids will be wearing them tomorrow. Sideway hats, hats with price tags left on, jeans hanging halfway down. Doesn’t matter how idiotic the trend, it becomes ‘cool.’
My favorite trend that didn’t catch on was from the act Criss Cross. THey wore their clothes inside out! lol
We’ve had a number of “shoe riots” here in Indianapolis where inner city youts queue up to pay hundreds of dollars (converted from their EBT money?) for various new Nike footwear.
I wonder if these will have a similar appeal?
Where’s the padlock to keep the hoodielums from snatching your new tires after being jumped.
Read “Shakedown” by Kenneth Timmerman. He documents case after case of this. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others have made money using this technique.
The mod run on these will be as wverything else gun fire parents fighting and so forth.

I think “like” is a subjective term.
Three things:
1. Why were slaves shackled to their shoes?
2. Why were they orange?
3. I didn’t know they had velcro back then, and how secure could it have been?
Hey! Those look “like” the shackles and cuffs my wife and I use when...uh...never mind.
