I have been told that individual states have law prescribing that electors must vote on first ballot at the convention as they are pledged.

Federal law does not.

One thing stands out: ninth circuit. Isn’t this the clown-court that sides with all things uber-liberal?. Since when do the courts decide who will be on the ballot for a presidential election? Makes the primaries a moot point if you can sue your way onto the ballot. That is the MO of the democrats, throw lawyers at any decision or process you don’t like.

RE :”The first 123 delegates, all from the 9th Circuit, sued the RNC, its Chairman Rince Priebus, and every state party chairman in the 9th Circuit in Federal Court on Monday, demanding the right to vote for the candidate of their choice on every ballot at the Republican National Convention, including the first.
The delegates claim the party violated federal law by forcing them to sign loyalty affidavits, under threat of perjury, to vote for Mitt Romney, though he is not yet the official nominee.

Loyalty affidavits, Figures!

They would have to change some other rules and/or twist some arms to get more than Romney and Santorum on the first ballot. Santorum might even have trouble getting back on it at this point.

It’s not a “revolt” it’s the Ron Paul delegates. They claimed to support whichever candidate was winning the popular vote, and now they will sue to try to get out of their obligation to vote for the candidate they were pledged to support, for which they got elected.

Grown men and women are claiming that they were forced to sign something? Of course they weren’t, it was voluntary, as is joining any political Party.

They want a do-over. Or never intended to keep their word.

I’ll bet even the 9th Circuit says that adults who sign contracts have to follow through.

Romney is SUCH A LOSER, that if he does
not voluntarily remove himself, the DELEGATE
should refuse to vote for the backstabbing poser.

Sounds like Ron Paul shenanigans to me - not good news.

People should not sign up to be delegates and then not abide by the rules. If the primary voters voted to select delegates to vote for a certain candiate, those should be the delegates who go to the convention. If they don’t want to do that, step aside - that’s the only honest thing to do. You can bet your bottom dollar if “the candidate of their choice” had been the one who won the delegates in the vote, they would sure as heck not be supporting another candiates’ supporters efforts to get them out of it.

Romney was not my candidate but he won the nomination and this shit is silly and stupid.

'Great News'

Have to ask 'why'?

And from there. ..we go 'where' and to whom? And expect to win, that is. . .

Why not save all this energy, so as to prepare the next wave of Conservatives to replace the RINO's who are cluttering up our Congress. . .so as to insure, Romney's feet held to 'fire' - so to speak.

Think, these current MO's; will damn our prospects of voting out, Obama.

We are past mid-stream; changing boats, not a good thing.

Dumb. And dumb on so many levels.
This will go nowhere - has to be another Ron Paul PR stunt.
I swear, these guys get more kooky by the election.

Federal voting law doesn’t apply to the Electors.
State law does.
Even the 9th circus will so rule - I seriously doubt that they will hear this at all.
Can anyone here imagine the chaos that would grip American politics if electors were not bound on the 1st ballot?

Forget Mitt, it would throw the entire system out the door
