BRUNSWICK, Ohio (AP) Mitt Romney is refusing to say that he would overturn President Barack Obama's new policy allowing some young illegal immigrants to stay in the United States.
The Republican presidential candidate tells CBS Face the Nation that if hes president, Obamas executive order would be overtaken by events by virtue of my putting in place a long-term solution.
Romney was asked three times in the interview if he would overturn Obamas order, but he didnt directly answer the question. Instead, he said would work to pass a law to help those young people who were brought in by their parents through no fault of their own. Romney said he doesnt know why Obama feels stop-gap measures are the right way to go.
The candidates comments represent a further softening of his rhetoric on immigration since the GOP primary campaign ended.

You are right on.
They are wasting their time and effort.
Denigration of other FReepers' faith, principles and values? This is how you work to convince people to vote for that bastard MR?
You AB0's are beyond the pale.
FUBO!!!
Bless your ‘little’ heart.
:)
Ohhhh, wait a sec...Lemme catch up...I’m a little slow here...
Was anyone here really expecting Mitt Romney to actually take on another reversal issue???
I think his first term, if he gets one, will be concumed totally with trying to overturn Obamacare...
The opposition is ALREADY prepared for that course of action...
Not trying to convince anybody of anything...just pointing out the utter hypocrisy of the freepers for obama who cloak their efforts to get him re-elected in Christian piety.
BINGO!
You AB0’s are beyond the pale.
You 0bama people are not going to convince anyone to vote for your guy.
And you know this how? How do you know these folks are hypocrites? What qualifies you and others to be “all knowing” and in turn, to denigrate the beliefs and principles of others?
I think you’re trying to convince yourselves that your outrageous behavior is somehow justified in making such visceral and objectionable comments.
Talk about tearing FR apart at the seams. I wonder what will be left of this place after folks like you get done with your slashing and burning.
That you have displayed such utter contempt for the views, opinions and beliefs of others in your “quest”, makes me question your motives.
Thanks for proving my point.
Hope the slash and burn technique works out for you.
Because he wants his own guy there.
You’re a Freeper for Obama and you question my motives? I guess you paid attention at the seminar.
;-)
It certainly IS an evasion when you cherry pick and don't cite the OTHER words used during his administration to attempt reform.
As for your not addressing the fact that the debt was NOT the highest compared to GDP you don't seem to get the importance of that vital ratio. Reagan also had the highest debt in $ up to his time as well, but NOT in regard to GDP. The media/Dems convinced gullible millions that Reagan was irresponsible for that. But those gullible millions weren't also told that tax revenues were high too because of tax cuts so that argument was moot for people who understood that debt as a percentage of GDP is the important number. I really don't expect you to understand this point...just keep parroting your "Bushbot" mantra.
As are liberal socialists of the social corporatist variety.
BRIAN TERRY DID NOT DIE FOR AMNESTY !!
I’ll be glad to liberate you from the shackles of ignorance.
California didn’t “turn from a Republican state (as late as 1995) to the BASKET CASE that it is today - IN ONE ELECTION” despite your belief in that fantasy.
California hasn’t been “a Republican state” since 1958. It has had Republican governors, including both Wilson and Schwarzenegger after 1995 (your ‘cutoff’ date), but the California legislature has been run by a Democratic majority for over 50 years, since before the time that Ronald Reagan was Governor. Only twice in that time has even one house of the legislature had a Republican majority, and that was by just 2 seats.
The increased Democratic vote after 1996 is very easy to understand, and it carries a message for the Open Borders wing of the GOP, not that they will ever learn from it. .
1986 was the year of Reagan’s Amnesty. Under that law the amnestied illegals were given the vote, to be effective 10 years after the amnesty. In 1996 a few million new Democrats were added to the voter rolls.
This is a lesson not lost on Obama and his ilk. Why members of the GOP insist on helping Obama and the Democrats move the country further Left by refusing to deport foreign nationals living here as a illegal aliens is a mystery known best to them, although the reason is amply explained in the nickname The Stupid Party.
“Americans are compassionate people. Hard-working young illegals should seek private sector US sponsors to *VOLUNTARILY* help them to apply for legal status in this country, “
One of my friends is doing something like this. She has adopted one of her daughter’s friends, a teenage latina whose illegal alien mother brought her here when she was very young.
