WASHINGTON -- Republican Sen. Marco Rubio-- whose reaction to the Obama administration’s immigration order will likely be one of the most closely watched of his party-- issued a carefully worded statement Friday that called for helping young illegal immigrants but criticized the president’s approach.
“There is broad support for the idea that we should figure out a way to help kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own, but there is also broad consensus that it should be done in a way that does not encourage illegal immigration in the future,” the Florida senator said. “This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.
“Today’s announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short-term answer to a long-term problem,” he added. “And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.”

Sadly you are right. Marco Rubio let the Tea Party put him over the top in the Fl senatorial election and then 2 weeks later he was telling the press that he didn’t think he was really a tea partier. He’s been tacking to the left ever since.
The truth is that Rubio like Whorealdo wishes every hispanic who can manage to crawl under the fence should be allowed to stay and become citizens. Marco’s Dream Act is hardly different from Obooboo’s.
Marco Rubio has never been, is not now and never will be eligible to be VP or President of the United States and he knows it. He is hoping that the lines will become so blurred that he too can be propelled to the top on nothing more than a lot of PR.
I could puke everytime I hear that Rubio is a rising star in the GOP. How come I never read that Allen West a natural born citizen Tea Party conservative is a rising star in the GOP?

So...using your analogy...if the children of bank robber parents were given the money from the robbed bank...they would be allowed to keep it?
Or, if the parents were drug dealers....would the kids still be able to keep the money given to them by parents...made from the drug deals?

Shortly after he was elected, he spoke and stepped into it about amnesty for illegals. I knew right then and there that Rubio was an absolute fraud.
Rubio is good at parroting Conservative ideas but deep in his heart he is statist and a believer viewing people in groups, not as individuals.

Rubio taken out of context? That's laughable. Do you remember the speech he gave shortly after being elected? He stepped into deep about amnesty. It was obvious after that speech that Rubio is 100% behind giving full amnesty to illegals and their relatives.
Rubio knows clearly that the end result of the policies that he support and propose will result in 100% amnesty for ALL illegals.
He expects enough Conservatives to be fooled by his smooth talking.

It is not “an answer”, short-term or long-term.
It is the beginning of amnesty. A rose by any other name is still a rose. Excusing the illegals’ presence, and permitting them to stay, by any “name” other than “amnesty” is still .... amnesty.
Rubio will become a traitor to conservatives on this issue.
He wants a “path to legalization”. No denying this.

The Republican National Convention is in Tampa, Florida. Gee, Rubio’s from Florida. Sounds to me that there needs to be a backlash of some sort when the stage is set in Tampa. If Romney picks Rubio in Florida, I don’t think it’s gonna work cuz Rubio’s got a file open for me and they won’t call me back or help me. His staff isn’t even helping constituents. This changed since a year ago. Not helping their Floridian constituents which is what he’s supposed to be doing. How can I be the only Floridian who they are ignoring this year?

He is a LIAR!! It is 100% amnesty. No one will be forced to go home and get in the back of the line. All those (except ones caught committing criminal acts here) who came across the border ILLEGALLY will get ALL the benefits that citizens now have. If that is not amnesty, then I don't know what is.
ALL who came to this country illegally should be expelled and NEVER allowed to have citizenship.

Have now read several threads on this subject, listened to a myriad of pundits on the news, and it is amazing to me that not once have I heard a single word about what happens to THE PARENTS of these children.
Are we gonna deport their parents and make them all wards of the state? Of course not.
So THIS is amnesty for 800,000 kids AND their 1,600,000 parents. Over 2 million illegals. Yes?

You are right about one thing - I absolutely, intensly dislike Rubio due to his clear and consistentt pro-illegal posture.
He talks a fairly good game otherwise. But when it comes to the issue of enforcing laws pertaining to illegal aliens he is just another Geraldo Rivera.
Rubio has never said that he favors making illegal aliens legal citizens, much less claim that there is “broad support” for that. What he claims there is “broad support” for—and I’m afraid he’s right about—is to give some sort of temporary visa to illegal aliens who were brought here as children so that they can finish studying and get a job. Rubio’s bill would *not* have provided a path to citizenship, which is why Obama has done everything possible to block it, and now has gone so far as to infinge upon Congress’s constitutional powers in order to derail it.
