WASHINGTON -- Republican Sen. Marco Rubio-- whose reaction to the Obama administrations immigration order will likely be one of the most closely watched of his party-- issued a carefully worded statement Friday that called for helping young illegal immigrants but criticized the presidents approach.
There is broad support for the idea that we should figure out a way to help kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own, but there is also broad consensus that it should be done in a way that does not encourage illegal immigration in the future, the Florida senator said. This is a difficult balance to strike, one that this new policy, imposed by executive order, will make harder to achieve in the long run.
Todays announcement will be welcome news for many of these kids desperate for an answer, but it is a short-term answer to a long-term problem, he added. And by once again ignoring the Constitution and going around Congress, this short-term policy will make it harder to find a balanced and responsible long-term one.

Perhaps, but I think today's EO may be evidence to the contrary. Why would Obama risk a possible (likely) firestorm of criticism from all other quarters in an effort to sew up the latino vote if all he has to do is coast to victory in November?
Looks to me like he's still trying to nail down his base, and that means he's in trouble.
As long as we are going to selectively enforce the law based upon preferred identity, I want the tax laws to be selectively not enforced against me in the name of unequal protection.
Your dislike for Rubio clouds your judgment and your reading ability.
Rubio looked so good compared to the Charlie Crist option that he is another DC politician who was not very thoroughly vetted. I recall some posts form Florida Freepers saying that Rubio fought any attempt to get tougher on illegal aliens in the Florida legislature. The information was probably available, but little was said because Crist looked so much worse to most everyone.
Wonder if Hannity will stop the Rubio worship?
In that configuration you’d have a fierce watchbeast that would be able to use the litter box... and then would promptly eat the droppings, meaning you’d never have to feed it or clean the box except for pee.
It’s good to be king.
His bleats about the methods Obama is using - the total usurpation of congressional authority - are pretty limp considering what it means to the republic and smack of Rubio trying to have things both ways.
Well, there is good and bad in every beast, I guess. But he is one handsome beast, he is! I am wondering how I could persuade my husband into letting me have one. Not gonna happen. I know.
Until more rank and file Republicans get your head out of the sand, you’ll always have to be dealing with the likes of rubio.
Maybe he looks good and even talks good, but his intentions are not for the good of the country.
You’ll never ‘reform’ the party from within.
A while back I posted a response that now comes true. The old saying “birds of a feather stick together” still holds true.

Rubios response was great.

I agree with you Kansas58. Rubio’s response was great. And, shalom aleichem, not Marco, needs to be the one to STFU!!
Since when is there broad support for making the children of illegal immigrants legal citizens? I don’t give a fig what age they are, they came here circumventing our laws, and they should have their posteriors booted from our soil, the sooner the better.
The hell there is! There is broad support for enforcing the laws of this nation you jackass.
Rubio, move to Mexico and represent Mexican citizens from there you d--kweed!
Rubio was saying that and in no way was applauding Obamugabe.
There is a concerted effort to outs White norther European residents influence in this nation. Births to Whites in the United States is now less than 50% of the total, and even that isn’t good enough or fast enough a fall for the racists who want to see us decline here.
Frankly folks, I’m fed up with our national policies. They are racist against me and my kind, and I take offense to them.

“Rubio fully supports the intent of Obama’s EO, just not his means.
Does that about sum it up?”
If you want to look at everything as black and white, yes. Rubio recognizes that there is a problem and something needs to done. I may disagree with what his answers are, but at least he does’t want to cram it down my throat by executive fiat. The headline implies that he agrees with with Obama’s order which is not true and that was my point.
“....kids who are undocumented through no fault of their own...”
Well Sen. Marco Rubio, I am slowly going broke and losing my country through no fault of my own!!!!
I no longer trust Rubio.
