California Democrats ready to send Gov. Jerry Brown a budget that rejects $1 billion in cuts.

To help bridge a $15.7 billion deficit, the Democratic governor has asked his own party's lawmakers to overhaul welfare-to-work, slash in-home care and require low-income students to earn higher grades for scholarship aid. But Democrats plan to reject more than $1 billion of those cuts, saying the state has already balanced enough prior budgets on the backs of poor Californians. They lack a deal with Brown, but lawmakers face a Friday constitutional deadline to send him a budget or lose their pay.

We reject your rejection of our bloated budget. If there is not enough, then print it, steal it (taxes) or just ignore it. We have an election to get through in November.

Rather than remake the state's welfare-to-work system, known as CalWORKs, Democrats propose extending a policy of giving parents of young children cash aid without requiring them to seek work or training.

In other words 'free taxpayer $$ without strings attached'.

calWORKS....ha!.....that’s along the same vein as the Fed’s Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)....making it sound like the leech actually did some work outside of squeezing out another ward of the state....neither involves any work for pay (i.e., a W-2).

Fat Juan Perez has spoken. More smoke and mirrors and more money for the majority parasites in CA.
We are in the process of leaving CA. This summer we are cleaning out our excess possessions and in the fall we are taking a tour of prospective new locations. AZ and TX.
The house will go on the market while we are on tour.

When Captain Moonbeam is a few shades more (dare I say) fiscally ‘conservative’ in comparison to the lunatic shipmates in Sacto you know the whole leaking ship of fools is still lost at sea.

Brown should veto any unbalanced budget, and, if the legislature passes it over his veto, resign.

I'm sure that would provide economic help to local liquer stores and casinos.

print it, steal it (taxes) or just ignore it

CA's version of printing it is to borrow it, which is just as bad

First of all, the "lose their pay" is phony. A scam. Their pay is simply delayed.

Second, what does $1 billion represent as a percentage of the total budget?
How does the TOTAL proposed budget compare with the previous budget?

The incompetent MSM, as usual witholds essential facts for the working, net taxpaying, non public employee to be able to understand the numbers.

If there is ANY increase in the proposed budget, it is unacceptable.

Dammit!
I'm getting tired of explaining this to the California-speak challenged.

The idle, the incompetent, the pets, the parasites, OWN their freebies.

The non-public employee who pays net income taxes on what he earns doing something actually useful, is allowed to claim only what the legislature decides he may keep. It's legal. They pass laws saying so.
Is that clear enough?
