Sharon Needles, the spooky drag queen who vaulted to national cult celebrity as the winner of Season 4 of "RuPaul's Drag Race," was presented with an official proclamation declaring today "Sharon Needles Day in Pittsburgh" at a City Council meeting this morning. "This is a city of champions in many regards," Councilman Patrick Dowd said, mentioning the Steelers and first-place Pirates. "We have a real champion in the room today."
Mr. Dowd praised the Bloomfield resident for her fearlessness as an artist and for speaking out against bullying of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. "A win for Sharon Needles is a win for every single kid in this city who's still being bullied," Ms. Needles said.
In front of a crowd of about 60 people outside the City-County Building, Ms. Needles, dressed in a blond wig and long black dress, dedicated the day to children who have been judged on the basis of their race, appearance, or sexuality.
"I just want to say happy Halloween to everyone in the room," she said. "It's humbling and almost embarrassing to have my favorite city in the world recognize what I do for a living."
She performed the song "Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," changing the lyrics to highlight her Pittsburgh roots.

That ‘thing’ isn’t human(looking).
LGBT-WXYZ-BLT.
Gay.
Maybe they need to work on that whole AIDS Awareness thing ...
More like "WTF?"
Are they doing a remake of Species or Fifth Element?
These people have lost their minds, if they had any to begin with.
OMFG!
That be one scary looking queen!
When I was younger, I was totally into TRHPS, almost oblivious, only caring about the cute girl (genetic) who I went with to the 40 appearances at midnight.
Especially that. I had no idea that Pb was that far leftist-nutcase-sicko-wacko.
Hmmmm... this city council looks to be as stupid as the Detroit CC. That is saying something.
And...this was done on the tax payers dime?
Excuse me....going to puke.
Drag queens were funny and shocking back in the early 70’s with Divine and Pink Flamingos. But now, I am just tired of seeing drag queens. Not funny any more. Not breaking any barriers, or making anybody rethink gender. Just a tired schtick.
Ping.
I need the hell out of this wacko town. First, we are voted one of the most gay-friendly cities in the U.S. by their queer Advocate magazine and now THIS????? How much city tax dollars were wasted with this “effort”.
I’m so pissed right now I could just scream!!!!!
Disgusting!!!!!!!!

RHPS. Therefore, Aliens.
Well, clearly we have normalized this drag queen stuff.
After all, he/she/it is being honored for being the winner of the season on Ru Paul’s Drag Race. The fact that there is a reality show for drag queen people is itself an indicator of how far we have sunk.
And to see a city council of a major American city dignify such an “accomplishment” also speaks volumes of how far we have sunk.
What’s a Drag Queen.I don’t get it.
A draq queen is a man who dresses up as a woman, and does so to exaggerate a woman’s behavior, such as going heavy on the make-up or eyelashes. Usually these men are homosexual men.
Thanks DSD .Looked it up.
“Drag is used for any clothing carrying symbolic significance but usually referring to the clothing associated with one gender role when worn by a person of another gender.”
