In the case that precipitated the decision this law sees to rectify all the cops did was respond to a citizen's call for HELP.

You think it was tough getting the cops to deal with crime before, now there's no reason whatsoever for them to do so.

This creates a third world situation for law enforcement, and for private citizens who are left to deal with someone else's criminal behavior on their own!

I'm good with that.

I will accept those circumstances with glee.

10 years ago there were few people more pro-cop than I was. I have seen them devolve into a hyper militarized street gang with a shoot first, screw the questions attitude. The war on (some) drugs caused it but my sympathy is tapped out. It’s time they got a clear message about their legitimate mission and who they work for.

If the cops weren’t acting like third-world death squads, this wouldn’t be necessary.

There never has seemed to be a actual reason for them to deal with crime. They are very good at writing reports.

So I move that we fire the lot of them since according to you they are a bunch of whinny little girls.

(Apologies to all the whinny little girls I offended with that remark.)

I’m sorry to ave to be so blunt, but that’s bull...

If your spouse is crazy and seems threatening, get the hell out. It may put you in a bad position from a finical standpoint, but the criminal justice system is not there to support you in that regard. Get a good civil lawyer...

You seem to be asserting that the police in Indiana will never respond to calls from citizens anymore. Do I have that right?

Can you back that up? Because I don't see it. I don't see how the law will protect anybody who shoots a police office who is lawfully doing his duty. I don't buy the argument that the police need total carte blanche to do their job.

And police know that responding to a domestic disturbance is already one of the most dangerous things they do, even without this law.

Fine. Then citizens can just shoot the intruders and crime will go down by attrition.

Either the criminals will all be shot and their numbers reduced that way. Or the up and coming ones will learn that it's not worth the risk and not even bother trying.

It's a win/win situation.
