WASHINGTON, June 11 (UPI) -- The White House said Monday rural U.S. communities would receive nearly $2 billion in additional grants funneled through the Small Business Administration.
In the current fiscal year, more than $400 million has been invested in rural communities through the Small Business Investment Co. operated by the SBA.
President Barack Obama Monday announced an expansion of that program by an additional $2 billion to be available through the 2016 fiscal year.
"As long as I'm president, my Administration will continue to give our rural communities the support and investment they need to show us the way," Obama said in a release.

There he goes again, using other people’s money.
Considering that it will probably take 3 billion
OUT of the rural communities to give 2 billion
back, it doesn’t seem like such a hot deal.
Just more of Obama trying to buy votes.
We aren’t buying it.
The “bitter clingers” aren’t going to be fooled.
1. The question needs to be answered....Where is the money coming from.
2. Take money from the Feds and you are obligated to do things the way they want. No getting around it.
Take money from the Feds and you are obligated to do things the way they want. No getting around it.
Exactly! I believe that they want even more control over farmers and those who just don’t want to live in the cities. We out here in flyover country just want to be left alone to live our lives in peace.
Those who were born here and felt that it wasn’t for them have left and many of them have returned a bit wiser in the ways of the world. Then there are those like me who come here because our hearts said that this was the home we wanted.
Nothing to see here. It’s part of the Obamunist Rural Pacification plan.
Wow. That’s like 4 Solyndras.
The overall aim, as part of Agenda 21, is to turn rural America into parklands and preserves for the privileged elites. Such agriculture as takes place will be under the control of government collectives and worked by slave labor.
We who live here in rural America are to be eliminated.
I think RURALITES will see THROUGH this blatant bribe attempt...
The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
AND
Beware those men that no longer have anything left to lose and all to gain by force of arms.
Words of wisdom from those much wiser than I. But their truth echoes down through the years.
Praying that's not long after Nov.
This money does not go to the people or the small business without first being funneled through the SBA and the universities.
We get their mailings all the time. Tired, cliched seminars being offered and not for free. Consultations that justify the existence of the university and the bureaucrats. Loans available that start at $500k. They will not even talk to you for less. Some money is funneled through incubators run on grants. Administrative grants and building grants in the millions are involved, featuring kitchens and freezers and all the trappings of a commercial food processor. Much PC-ness involved in these incubators. The big thing now seems to be artisan and specialty food related businesses. Grants run around $400k each. Most of us were able to prototype and produce and test market products on our own for well under $10k, because the money only went for essentials, not for the infrastructure of the middlemen.
I have seen the products go to market too quickly and then disappear. Not even available locally for more than a few months. _Maybe_ they get one or two orders or even contracts with a distributor who has shelf or freezer space to fill, but they seem to be short term.
And: these grants all compete with the individual entrepreneur, especially when factoring in marketing money. So, tax money goes to tax-supported infrastructure, draining the private sector even more.

What’s that translate to in cost per vote?
No thank you. Leave us alone.
