Pelosi: Obamacare Is A Right By Terence P. Jeffrey June 8, 2012
(CNSNews.com) - House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said at her Thursday press briefing that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care ActAKA Obamacreis not a privilege but a right.
At the same time, Pelosi also said Social Security and Medicare are rights.
Key elements of Obamacare include a provision requiring all individuals to purchase government-approved health-care plans, taxpayer-funded transfer payments to finance the purchase of health-care plans by individuals and families who earn less than 400 percent of the federal poverty level, and a regulation that requires all health-care plans to cover, without any fees or co-pay, sterilizations, contraceptives and abortifacients for all women with reproductive capacity."
A majority of the nations state governments challenged Obamacare in federal court, arguing that the federal government does not have the constitutional authority to force individuals to purchase health insurance. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on these challenges by the end of this month.
Pelosi made her statement that Obamacare is a right in response to a reporter who asked her about a CBS News/New York Times poll that showed 41 percent of Americans want the Supreme Court to overturn the law in its entirety while another 27 percent want the Supreme Court to throw out the individual mandate and keep the rest of the law.
Why do you think that is and what does that say in terms of the chance that the Supreme Court will strike it down? the reporter asked Pelosi.

I want the right to fly on Air Force jets anywhere anytime I want, just like Nancy’s right. Equality for all, right?
Nothing that requires the interaction of another is a “right”.
If it gets struck down, first thing that will happen is a whole bunch of people will be summarily fired. Maybe enough people to tip us into the second dip (like we’re not there already). After that things may improve a bit.
If a constitutional right is something the government is supposed to force upon its citizens, then the right to keep and bear arms should be forced upon everyone. Eh, Nancy?
‘A right is a moral principle defining and sanctioning a mans freedom of action in a social context. There is only one fundamental right (all the others are its consequences or corollaries): a mans right to his own life. Life is a process of self-sustaining and self-generated action; the right to life means the right to engage in self-sustaining and self-generated actionwhich means: the freedom to take all the actions required by the nature of a rational being for the support, the furtherance, the fulfillment and the enjoyment of his own life. (Such is the meaning of the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.)
‘The concept of a right pertains only to actionspecifically, to freedom of action. It means freedom from physical compulsion, coercion or interference by other men.
‘Thus, for every individual, a right is the moral sanction of a positiveof his freedom to act on his own judgment, for his own goals, by his own voluntary, uncoerced choice. As to his neighbors, his rights impose no obligations on them except of a negative kind: to abstain from violating his rights.
‘The right to life is the source of all rightsand the right to property is their only implementation. Without property rights, no other rights are possible. Since man has to sustain his life by his own effort, the man who has no right to the product of his effort has no means to sustain his life. The man who produces while others dispose of his product, is a slave.
‘Bear in mind that the right to property is a right to action, like all the others: it is not the right to an object, but to the action and the consequences of producing or earning that object. It is not a guarantee that a man will earn any property, but only a guarantee that he will own it if he earns it. It is the right to gain, to keep, to use and to dispose of material values.’
-Ayn Rand
I’m not an objectivist myself but I think she was absolutely correct on these points. Someone needs to educate SanFranNan and her supporters about them.
They’re stuck on stupid. Our emergency room says no one will be turned away for financial reasons. We’re paying for them now either via Federal Funds or state funds. This is just another kitty to work with and payoffs to various folks like Planned Parenthood, Pharms etc.

Pelosi is slobbering out idiotic reassuring Obamacar statements by the hour. She knows it’s going down in flames and is growing apoplectic about it.
You had a RIGHT to that protection.
Guess she never learned that outside the Mob world people don't think of RIGHTS in the same way.
A right is anything you can do by yourself in the middle of nowhere.
Everything else is social contract.
pelosi is like a termite in the framework of the nation. Any time you hear her, or see her droppings, you know there is destruction afoot.
No it is not, it's a "left hook"
Exactly. She made the American people an “offer they can’t refuse” in her mind.
With thinking like that, I’ll never realize my “right” to free chocolate ice cream. ;)
Some folks in DC need schooling about the difference between a “right” and a “sentence”.....and it may well be they’re not gonna peacefully take it.
Video of statement;
Heres the thing, the American Affordable Care Act stands there with Social Security, Medicare, health care for all Americans as a right, not a privilege.”
But owning property is somehow a “privilege” huh, Nancy?
I now have the right to be happy rather than merely to pursue happiness.
If ever anyone deserved to rot in hell, it would be 0, Bawney and Nancy.
