Privacy: News the EPA is conducting surveillance on farmers goes against our grain. Freedom means freedom of movement and the presumption of innocence. How can we have it if every move is monitored by government?
Nebraska's congressional delegation sent a justifiably angry letter to Administrator Lisa Jackson last week complaining that her Environmental Protection Agency had exceeded its legislative and constitutional authority by conducting drone surveillance flights over Nebraska and Iowa farms looking for violations of the Clean Water Act.
"They are just way on the outer limits of any authority they've been granted," said Nebraska GOP Sen. Mike Johanns, an opinion the bureaucrats rejected Friday in responding to the letter. The EPA argues that the courts, including the Supreme Court, have already authorized aerial surveillance, such as taking aerial photographs of a chemical manufacturing facility.
"Farmers and ranchers in Nebraska pride themselves in the stewardship of our state's natural resources," says the letter signed by Republican Reps. Adrian Smith, Jeff Fortenberry and Lee Terry, as well as Democratic Sen. Ben Nelson and Johanns.
"As you might imagine, this practice has resulted in privacy concerns among our constituents and raises several questions."
Smith, co-chairman of the Modern Agriculture Caucus and the Congressional Rural Caucus, said Tuesday the operations in many cases are near homes so "landowners deserve legitimate justification given the sensitivity of the information gathered by the flyovers."

It’s going to be hard and may take many years to reverse the communists control over our citizens. The EPA must be reorganized with intelligent humans, if that is possible.

So if they catch you taking a leak out in the field is it just a “clean water violation” or is there also a charge for indecent exposure?
Let’s face it, The EPA is just taking the “Us vs. Them” method of Government to the next logical step. What’s next though? Cameras in our cars, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc?
The one real good thing that the Obama Administration has done is open the eyes of many if not most of the citizens of the United States to the very real abuses of power and authority. You know... The very things that the left worried about under Republican administrations is what they are practicing. I believe the term is ‘projection’, they accuse others of doing what they really want to do.
Do you think the EPA is constitutional? I do not. It should be eliminated and get them out of everybody's hair.
Where is the ACLU???
KILL THE EPA BEFORE IT KILLS US.

“Do you think the EPA is constitutional?”
Whether it is Constitutional, or not IMO doesn’t matter as it’s not American as it is.
The only way to resolve the problem that the EPA has become is to eliminate it. It’s too easy for a rogue Executive Branch such as we encountered in the ‘90’s, and currently to abuse.
Several of these “Departments” under the control of the Executive should be eliminated, or their missions restated for clarity.
The EPA should immediately be shutdown.
Thousands upon thousands of illegal aliens cross our borders every month, yet Uncle Sugar worries about clean water violations, the sale of raw milk and code violations, all being monitored by the governments new lil toy’z.
It is the government that needs monitoring, not the citizens. Corruption centers in this government, not the average Joe trying to make an honest living.
Uncle Sugar's out of control!
Back really early in the “Nam” I flew on an observation mission in an L-19 where a full auto M-14 was used as a “window” gun. The pilot then claimed he flew the first “F-One Niner”!
The “F-One Niner” also had smoke marking rockets under the wings. Last I heard they were trying to find HE rockets to replace replace the smoke on “certain missions”.
Lets say Im on my ranch one day and this unidentified flying object is buzzing overhead. Am I in my rights to take it down? They are after all weapon capable platforms.

Shoot.
Shovel.
Shut up.
NO!
It should be eliminated.
We had laws concerning polluting waterways before the EPA, and those laws can be enforced.
We do not need, nor is it desirable to have an agency which writes its own rules and imposes standards which will dream collectively of the jackbooted grandeur of its 'glory days back when' when it could pull crap like this.
It will only get worse from here, and the 'setback' of reorganization will only delay a future escalation of power and usurpations by the dirtworshipers who have found a way to codify their religion as regulations with the full force and effect of law.
