Jesse Jackson says GOP Gov. Walker is segregating Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Speaking at two rallies Sunday and Monday, Rev. Jesse Jackson compared Wisconsin GOP Gov. Scott Walker to segregationist Alabama governor George Wallace and said Walker is perpetuating segregation in Milwaukee.
.
.
“Why is Milwaukee so segregated and so-locked out? Because of a lack of access to transportation,” Jackson told the press alongside a group of local church leaders. “If you are in fact on welfare, you can’t own a car.Without public transportation, you can’t get to the job, and the job can’t get to you.”

That is why, Jackson said, Milwaukee has become the “poorest and most segregated city in the state.”

“The governor of this state refused to accept $800 million from President Obama,” Jackson said, drawing boos from the small audience outside a downtown municipal building. “He turned down the jobs creator. That was money for Americans who can make the steel, lay the rails, build the trains, unite Milwaukee and Madison and Chicago, and put Wisconsin and Illinois and America back to work.
.
.
Under Barrett’s leadership, African American joblessness rose by 150 percent in Milwaukee.

Jackson appeared at both events in a Mercedes Benz S550 and was escorted by a Cadillac Escalade ESV. The starting price of the S550 is about $100,000; the Escalade retails for almost $70,000.

“If you are in fact on welfare, you can’t own a car.Without public transportation, you can’t get to the job, and the job can’t get to you.”

No public transportation.....On welfare......can't own a car.....can't get to a job.....job can't get to you....???????

So, taxpayers have to spend 800 million dollars to build a railroad so people on welfare who cannot own cars can get to their jobs or have their jobs come to them?

Jesse Jackson does Joe Biden in black.

I lived on LaFayette and Summit, right above the Lake Park, and worked in the way west side. I never had to wait more than ten minutes for a bus. One fee, two transfers, very efficient system. Lotsa people rode the bus back then.

The 'can't own a car' thing is a lie too. Folks on welfare can't own a ferrari... but they can own a car.

That is why, Jackson said, Milwaukee has become the “poorest and most segregated city in the state.”

I rode Milwaukee down through the same decades and left in the 90's. The reason Milwaukee is so poor is the Progressive Movement.

Progressives built an elaborate system of worker protection and welfare benefits, funded by taxes on factories. For the next 50 years, society's takers and grifters moved in and the factories and productive people moved out.

Welfare Queens can't be expected to ride a bus - they need high speed rail - with butlers serving tea... are you a racist or what? /s

” unite Milwaukee and Madison and Chicago”

And just how many people are going to live in Milwaukee, and commute to Madison or Chicago to work?

When I lived in Milwaukee, in the 70’s and 80’s, there was a great bus system. I went years without even owning a car! Are there no buses now?

It's not like many welfare recipients are going to get jobs as web developers or neurosurgeons. The jobs they will get will be in food service, cleaning etc. Which means that all they need is a person in the neighborhood who has a car, who drives to where there are jobs, and is willing to accept people to car-pool with him for gas money. With the price of gas these days, low-income commuters should be VERY interested in having people willing to ride with them in exchange for gas.

As one who grew up in Milwaukee I can attest that Milwaukee county has one of the finest public transportation systems in the country. There is NOT a place you can’t get to by bus. This is pure horse pucky.

One could also describe it as a battle pitting 7+ million public-sector union members against 97+ million private-sector non-union taxpayers over how the taxes from the 97 million are spent or wasted.

“Why is Milwaukee so segregated and so-locked out? Because of a lack of access to transportation,” Jackson told the press ... That is why, Jackson said, Milwaukee has become the “poorest and most segregated city in the state.”

Milwaukee became the poorest and most segregated city BECAUSE white people moved out.

White people moved out to get away from black crime and black values. Milwaukee didn't fail because there was a lack of trains. Truth can be painful - but it's the only starting point for real change. Watch how people vote with their feet - that's the underlying truth... of neighborhoods, restaurants, news outlets, computers, etc... Jesse's brain is going soft.

Jackson's lucky he's telling 'the press'. No one else would buy his line...
