New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo will ask state lawmakers Monday to decriminalize the possession of small quantities of cannabis, according to The New York Times, in a bid to save young men from minorities who find themselves charged with a crime after being stopped and frisked.
Lawmakers representing minority neighborhoods in New York City urged the Democratic governor to take action, arguing that such young men are forced into the justice system unnecessarily and find their future job prospects hampered.

Don’t confuse Cuomo with Bloomberg. :)
Cuomo is laying the ground for a Presidential run with his little adventures like celebrating homosexuality, legalizing pot, etc.
Bloomberg wants to ban large size sodas.
I really don’t care what Cuomo does with drugs. We’ve spent how much money on the war on drugs, and what has it gotten us? Billions down the hole and an open southern border.
Yes Mr. Cuomo, legalize small quanities of POT... the influx of potheads will surely offset the mass exodus of over-taxed acheivers seeking refuge in other States. Not exactly what I’d call making NY a great place to live... what the hell kind of priority is this???
Slightly different take... When the first fatal car accident is attributed to someone having a history of smoking POT, Mr. Cuomo can congratulate himself on enabling such an addiction much easier to acheive in NY. Bravo...
Cuomo came out in support of Bloomberg’s proposal.

Been a long time since I’ve hit a triple. Sorry about that!
What constitutes a small quantity?
Would that be the same as a little bit?
I think a pound would be called some, but not a lot, an ounce might be little bit, but more than a small quantity, I’m sure Cuomo knows, he’s just not saying.
Legalize it and tax it.
End the so-called War on Drugs which has been a complete failure. All it has done is empower the black market like Prohibition, militarize our police forces, and erode civil liberties.
Conservativism = Small Government
Conservativism = Scaling back criminal laws that don't make sense
Just another sign that your drug war is heading under the bus.
Como’s a lib and STILL better than that socialist nut Bloomberg (R)(ino)
But Cuomo has said he will veto it.

So, lets ban booze while we’re at it? Let’s cut the BS and tell it like it is. Marijuana is safer than alcohol.
The only reason it’s illegal is due to those profiting of its illegal status.
I can see the news article now:
I was walking down the street with my friend, he smoking a joint and I drinking a big gulp. We were minding our own business when the swat team descended upon us, grabbed my big gulp, slung it to the ground and forced me onto the sidewalk where they handcuffed me and locked me up. My friend was standing by watching and as I was driven away heard him say, “wow, dude, that was cool!”
BS. I think about the acquaintances, friends, and family, and an ex-wife who screwed up their lives on drugs (alcohol - crack) and would disagree with you. Some of those I’m thinking about would disagree with you as well - if they were still alive today.
Rationalize marijuana all you want. Tell me that in small quantities it is harmless... Tell me that it is a depressant... Tell me about a medical uses for THC... Tell me that hemp was an important crop during colonial days... Tell me that libertarians have the answers, and let people just off themselves with poor choices... Whatever.
“Marijuana is safer than alcohol” ‘splain that one for me Kegger8r. I’ll pretend to be open minded about it and listen. Can’t wait to hear this one.
