Defence sources said the surgical operation showed the precision, skill and courage of British special forces after they stormed the cave where Helen Johnston, 28, was held, and killed her kidnappers.
David Cameron spoke individually to the soldiers to thank them for an extraordinarily brave mission.
He warned that anyone who took British citizens hostage faced a swift and brutal end.
Miss Johnston, a committed Christian, along with Moragwa Oirere, a Kenyan colleague, and two Afghan women who worked for the same aid agency, were said to be physically well after their ordeal.
Miss Johnstons parents expressed their gratitude to the SAS and American Navy Seals from the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden, for freeing their daughter. Mr Cameron spoke to the rescued aid worker as she recovered at the British embassy in Kabul.

So it was a combined operation, SAS and Seals?
Storming a cave, successfully, amazing op.
Oooorah!
Stiff upper lip lads
I like the SAS very much.
For a dated 1980s movie that is still pretty good, check out “Final Option”, the star was a reservist SAS according to an SOF article of the time, being known stopped his options with the SAS. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083941/
The SAS used to be surprised at how our Special ops personnel, (not Delta of course) could wear t-shirts and uniforms of their type units and openly let it be known that they were special ops, Rangers, SEALs, Green Berets etc, they weren’t allowed to do that.
For a very good, but low keyed movie (the kind I like) try the movie that does a good job of following the book “Bravo two zero”.

The Telegraph’s headline should have acknowledged your guys as well. Anyway: this is great news.
No, I read everything before the 1980s, but nothing since (no particular reason for it), is that book good?.
They are an absolute blank spot for almost all of us.
What’s with the last paragraph in the article ?
Bravo for the SAS
Now, if only our men did not have to risk their lives to save naive idealistic white europeans (and Americans) who insert themselves into “charity work” and “vactions” in remote hellholes like Afghanistan and Somalia, where they are practically begging to be kidnapped
A strong leader and very capable soldiers...
Good job SAS blokes.

Well said Silverleaf. This borders on criminal negligence. The one rescued should have to pay for the cost of the rescue operation.
You can scratch the sarcasm tag as Team Obama already have.
Earlier this morning on Fox and Friends (about 5:15am CDT) it was reported that Seal Team 6 carried off the rescue. No mention of the SAS at all. That could only come from a White House (cough) 'leak'. So Barry's already getting ready to take bows on tonight's evening news. Or through his lackeys on today's D.C. talk shows.
That 'man' has no shame at all, he's a friggen psychotic.
Pay attention, IDF.
Pay attention, IDF.
Congrats on a job well done Two Two!
Quite true, and these kidnap victims likely despise the military and govt. as well.
