. I can understand such BS coming from a product of today’s schools because these youngins are brainwashed, but I would think the ones from my day and older would have more sense. Maybe it’s something in the water.

They are bred in the bone stupid. Their leftist religion does not allow for reason, reality or goodness. The old lefties are the worst for they cannot back out on a lifetime of being wrong, deadly and stupidly wrong.
I no longer think of leftists as misguided, I think of them as both stupid and evil.
I visualize it as a three-space; everybody can be found at some point in a space where the dimensions are
1. Smart-stupid.
2. Informed-misinformed.
3. Honorable-evil.
(There are significant interdependencies in these characteristics; for instance if a person is sufficiently misinformed, he may ultimately be seduced into doing evil, and perhaps never be able to admit it to himself.)
People vary in their ability to evolve their positions in this space as they go through life. Hopefully there are enough of them that need to do so that can move in positive directions.
