Global warming is expected to result in localized extinctions of up to one-third of all butterfly species.
A recently published study concluded that butterflies which tend to emerge later in the year or fly higher in the mountains are probably more vulnerable becayse they have evolved to deal with a shorter window of opportunity to reproduce.
The findings have implications beyond just the survival of individual butterfly species, since their absence or presence has effects on pollination and other functions of herbaceous ecosystems.
Insects and plants are at the base of the food pyramid and are extremely important, but they often get less attention when we are studying the ecological impacts of climate change, said Javier G. Illa-Wanker, with the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University.
The research was done by Illa-Wankerss group in the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid. It examined 32 butterfly species for five years at various elevations in a Mediterranean mountain range, and the delays in flight dates that occurred as a result of elevation change.

Fluffy bunny population also affected.
Buncha Wankers.
They are just going to continue on and on about this “climate change” nonsense as if we did not learn that they lied about the initial data...
It’s always good to see a butterfly flutter by.
We had a warm winter this year and it looks like bunnies and bullfrogs did better than usual.
Are the rainbow unicorns safe?
I wish it would wipe out leftists.
My wife and I are avid gardeners and live in central Oklahoma. This past winter was very mild. Since our flowers came out in the spring we have noticed an over abundance of butterflies, many more than normal. Small, large, different colors, butterflies I’ve never seen. A joy to sit and watch.
Wasn’t it 2 winters ago that unusually cold temps in N. Mexico devastated the monarch population?
“I wish it would wipe out leftists.” ....and Ground Hogs! Nasty pieces of work also. :)

Here is the man called Wanker in the above article. Maybe he married a wanker to get green card etc
We’re all going to die!
Er, someday.
You beat me too it. No pun intended. Actually I was moved by the ten foot pole rule. No pun intended.
“They are just going to continue on and on about this climate change nonsense as if we did not learn that they lied about the initial data...”
This is exactly what the left does. Keep repeating the lie long after opposing forces debunk it. Then it becomes the new truth.
Thanks for the pic. In this case, it really is worthy 1000 words.
Such a dour look on the man!! He should come to my property - butterflies, bluebirds! the cutest cardinal couple you ever saw - abound.
We have a swallow in our bluebird box - I was mad at first but the bluebirds found another place nearby. The swallow is pretty - white stomach and steely greenish blue body.
Also a hummingbird at the window - nature is awesome and repairs itself.

One of Peggy Bundy’s relatives?
In my small town between Cleveland and Akron, I have seen very few butterflies. I figured it’s all the chemicals people are using on their lawns. My lawn is a sanctuary for bugs! It’s all weeds! Hey! They’re green.
