53-Year-Old Cross To Be Torn Down, Thanks to ACLU
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 6/1/12 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 06/01/2012 10:56:08 AM PDT by SaraJohnson

In 1959, the Middleboro Kiwanis Club in Massachusetts put up a large cross that said “WORSHIP” on it on a traffic island off one of the local freeways. It stood for 53 years. Then, a liberal lawyer spotted it.

Now, the state may have to tear it down.

According to CBS Local, the cross “sits mostly on town land. The state owns a small fraction of the traffic island where it is located, and thus, the ACLU says, the cross violates church and state separation laws.”

What state and church separation laws?

The state can establish a state religion anytime it wants. The Federal government cannot.

I suppose the ACLU would accept a depiction in stone of someone being decapitated. Hey, we have to be open minded and accept all religions, don’t we?

There are no “church and state separation laws” in the USA. The so-called ACLU, started by communists and still a communist organization, continues to conflate the US Constitution with the old USSR constitution . . .
In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church in the U.S.S.R. is separated from the state, and the school from the church. Freedom of religious worship and freedom of antireligious propaganda is recognized for all citizens.

1936 USSR constitution, Article 124

Citizens of the USSR are guaranteed freedom of conscience, that is, the right to profess or not to profess any religion, and to conduct religious worship or atheistic propaganda. Incitement of hostility or hatred on religious grounds is prohibited.

In the USSR, the church is separated from the state, and the school from the church.

1977 USSR constitution, Article 52
Easily distinguishable from the USA’s First Amendment.
I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself... I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.

— Roger Nash Baldwin, founder of the ACLU

The sign does not say who or what to worship so it’s not an establishment of religion.

“the ACLU says, the cross violates church and state separation laws.””

They are not LAWS. What the FOUNDING FATHERS discussed was the importance of keeping the POWER of the CHURCH and the POWER of the STATE separate.\

When you mix the POWER of the CHURCH and STATE, you get .... ISLAM.

What happens is that the STATE is then free of any moral framework, as they change the ‘rules’ of the religion to keep themselves in power, and use the ‘rules’ of the religion to keep the public subdued.

A Middleboro Kiwanis Club in Massachusetts putting up a large cross that says “WORSHIP” on it on a traffic island off one of the local freeways is EXACTLY what the founding fathers were thinking about when they said, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”.

They mean to say “Kiwanis Clubs shall put up no signs on freeway traffic islands respecting the idea of religion”, but they weren’t all sure what a Kiwanis Club, a traffic island or a freeway was... so they chose the wording we’re all familiar with.

The people of the ACLU are demons,,if they weren't then these crosses would not scare them..The one person they should be afraid of is God and are..Freaks like them murdered my Jesus but that did no good we are still praying and asking for help from God These demons will pay one day and we want have to be around them again..When God comes back for us he will leave the filth of the earth here and then they will be all thrown in the lake of fire..They can laugh at us all they want but in the in it doesn't matter..

Everything that is happening in this world today is all in the Bible..When I hear things that make me unhappy I know one day it will all be just fine..because God told me so..

The state can establish a state religion anytime it wants. The Federal government cannot.

You are correct; but after three generations of systematic ideological corruption of the susceptible, the Fabian Socialist wrecking crew in the ACLU have brought us to this passage. (See The First Amendment & Religious Freedom.)

A day of reckoning is coming for the ACLU and their destruction will be by their own hand. The silly atheists and the leftist, communist, fallen-away and self-loathing Jews who run the organization don’t understand that the reason they’re free to attack other people is because this country had a strong Christian tradition that assured them of these freedoms.

Once the Christians are gone the freedoms will be gone too and the new regime that rises in its place will first turn on people like the ACLU.

Tyrants always start their first purge with the very revolutionaries who put them into power.

>>>The sign does not say who or what to worship so it’s not an establishment of religion.>>>

It’s on a cross. If it were a head placed on a block, the ACLULESS would probably approve of it.

Not even most seriously religious Jews complain about modern Christian crosses in America. They are quite aware that a robust Christian faith in America (such things as the Inquisition having been long repudiated by Christendom) is their friend even though there is a standing theological disagreement.

The ACLU in this matter represents bitter atheists, secularized Jews, and others bent on grievance mongering and liberal bullying. It almost certainly would not be enough for them if the city sold the spot the cross sits on to the church and it was prominently marked as such, as “looking” like it’s the city’s is enough to get their dander up.
