Not that it’s that big a deal....but my assertion was that Mitt should respond to all queries by reporters as to whether he will repudiate Trump by asking that same reporter if he or she asked Obamer if he planned to repudiate Maher.
Not quite the same thing as you argue against.
Of course the reporter(ette) will likely answer No they did not ask Obamer about Maher, or won’t answer but with a mumble.
I just think this is what I would do, but like i say, I’m no politico and surely am not a Blue Blood elite Republican.
Blue Blood elites think such a response would be rude you must understand.
We all have our reasons to dislike Mitt, but I really find myself disliking him a lot less these days.
He’s a weaselly flip-flopping sunsabyotch sometimes, but also thoughtful, disciplined and smart. He’s not playing the game the way the media expected him to. He’s spent a long time doing serious skullwork on probable lines of attack and crafting careful defenses and counters to them. And it’s working well.
One thing that has occurred to me just now, is that they are going to have a very hard time playing the “stupid” card against Mitt — as they have against every Republican nominee and President since Reagan.
Again, I don’t like him yet. I may never like him. But I have to give grudging admiration to his political fighting instincts.
This could turn out to be a very interesting campaign.
mitt said he was not going to raise taxes and that he was going to cut government spending. orin hatch stated that he would refuse any tax increases and that the problem was spending by an uncontrollable Federal government. The so called TEA Party candidate running against orin hatch had his campaign spokesman state today that he was “not a TEA Party candidate” and that he was interested in a grand deal that included “revenue enhancements” as well as some cuts in spending. I see now why Mark and Sarah have endorsed orin hatch.
You want to know how screwed up the gop is? orin hatch and mitt romney are the most conservative members that have the balls to make a public statement today... against this grand compromise with stalin and marx. How anyone can defend the gop is beyond reason. This is the same crap they said 20 years ago... 10 years ago... 5 years ago... and they are exempt from all of the pain they are causing us. The rat party is 70% responsible for America's downfall... but 30% of the blame belongs to these criminals that call themselves republican leaders.

True, that would flummox the average lefty reportbot quite well. It would be clever. But I’m saying that would undermine the larger moral point Mitt needs to make. Trump may or may not be wrong — Mitt begs to differ — but Mitt accepts that Trump isn’t taking his position in order to lie or be malicious. Can’t say that about Maher.

Romney went to Philly and was roundly dissed but he still stated that the problems in black America stem largely from the fact that there are only 3 of 10 babies born in wedlock.
That was impressive and I hope he does it again in every major city.
It would be easy to justify being cynical about this same Mitt who was so eager to not resist the judicial juggernaut of Massachusetts about “gay marriage” that he leaped in front of the parade — but even a blind squirrel gets an acorn now and then.
I keep wondering what unseen intrigue is going on in the Mormon church, quite out of all of our view. As a good Mormon bishop, wanting to keep his Temple access and his little g godhood, Mitt listens to the appointed Mormon prophets. Well, if they flip flop, or there is a tension for which of two differing prophets has the authority, then we might see it through Mitt flip flopping. Unless Mitt screw up the courage to walk away from the whole unreliable edifice.
I do not have high expectations for Romney but I am impressed with his willingness to take tough positions with Obama’s surrogates and his ability to discuss tough truths about lions in the lions den. I labor under no illusions that he is the great conservative hope but he is far better than Obama. I don’t care where or what he worships as long as he doesn’t bend his knee to secular humanism and the almighty government.

just can’t help yourself can you? i guess you don’t have any qualms about the current WH occupier who observes Ramadan, but heaven protect America from a Mormon president. at least most Mormons that i know are very patriotic and don’t hate America the way the current Occupier and his cohorts do. God Bless America and protect her from 4 more years of this obamanation.
What's frightening is that the media and Right punditry's self-imposed blackout on exposing the statism of Romney's record from a conservative point of view, is as harsh as the MSM's blackout on Obama's background. That's pretty worrisome.
Right now, it's all about Obama. If Romney wins, Obama would be forgotten six months in 2013. At that time ABO would be dust of history. The GOP is asking me to vote for a guy whose entire political record is of advancing the very big-government Daddy State morally corrupt authoritarian values I vote Republican to oppose. For heaven's sake, acknowledge Romney's record and roots!
THAT is all that would matter in 2013. Common sense is the best judge of life, and it tells me voting for Romney is as nuts as voting for Obama.

The elite establishment has seen to it that 40% (the largest single voting block) of Americans, have NO choice in this upcoming presidential election. No matter which way any American votes, they'll be voting the puppet masters back into power.
Given that they've successfully rigged and hijacked the electoral process again, we patriots have no choice except RESISTANCE, once the vote is done.
No matter which of the quisling liberal Socialists is elected, we patriots must answer with RESISTANCE.
Resistance means different things to different people, and each person has to inspect their own soul to discover what their personal limits are. That said, there's no question that that is our only option, going forward.

I would like to keep my mouth shut on this one... but coming from someone who also feels a little despondent about how this primary turned out... you sound almost as nuts as the Occupy Wall Street folks.
We do have a choice. Obama actually hates America. Mitt does not have a conservative record, but I do not believe he hates America. I have known a lot of Mormons in my life and none of them were Occupy Wall Street Commie types. They actually plan for disasters; they mostly believe in gun rights. Their kids are generally responsible and don't get into trouble. In fact their kids often go to horrible places and ride their bikes around in suits and get the hell beat out of them while trying to recruit gang members into their religion. (A true story from a friend at my gun club who was a Mormon “missionary”)
Mitt's dad was chairman and president of American Motors Corporation from 1954 to 1962. He was the front runner before Richard Nixon in the 1968 Republican primary. Mitt actually has experience in business; he no doubt has some concept of how to create an atmosphere that will encourage entrepreneurship. Businesses putting people back to work is the only way that this country will be able to dig itself out of the mess that has been made.
If we want our kids, our grand-kids and their grand-kids to have a prosperous future we must keep our eye on the ball. I don't really understand what you are talking about, but it doesn't sound like a plan that is going to create a stable atmosphere for businesses and people wanting to build a future for themselves. Mitt may not be the conservative that I wanted... but I don't know if the country can survive four more years of Obama. So we do have a choice.
My slogan for the Romney campaign... At least I am not as bad as John McCain
