Lee Jantz, coordinator of UT's Forensic Anthropology Center (FAC); Richard Jantz, professor emeritus and former director of the FAC; and Joanne Devlin, adjunct assistant professor, examined 1,500 skulls dating back to the mid-1800s through the mid-1980s. They noticed U.S. skulls have become larger, taller and narrower as seen from the front and faces have become significantly narrower and higher.

Better nutrition has no doubt contributed to the larger heads HOWEVER the article never mentioned that Americans are generally larger than Americans of a century ago.

The real reason IMO is that we now have caesarian sections allowing women & baby from being killed during birth.
I only saw it on “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie” when I was in high school.
when I was 18 I wore a size 7-1/4. Today in my 40s I wear a size 7-3/4...and back then I had so much hair it probably added a 1/4 to my hat size. Not anymore.
Yes, I think you are right. I have a pretty big head, most hats won’t fit me either, and my mother always insisted it was because I was born caesarian so my skull didn’t get squeezed on the way out.
Many preemie babies have that elongated, bulge at the top, narrow face also. And a lot more preemies survive than used to be the case.
Which Americans heads are getting larger? Race wasn’t mentioned.
Judging by behavior of some races, some heads may be getting smaller.
