The owners of the kosher restaurant in Rome's Jewish Ghetto a historic quarter in the centre of the city were surprised when Mr Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan walked away without leaving a gratuity.

And he a member of the tribe. What a loser. Has anything about this guy ever sounded good or decent?
Is tipping even customary in Italy? If not, who cares?
Zuckerberg is a real schmuck (of course, he’s a flaming liberal as well, but I repeat myself :-).
C’mon. It says the owner was surprised, and the owner is named and quoted in the article, and there’s a picture of them eating there. But hey, maybe Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t even exist. I’ve never seen him.
Rich people don’t get rich and stay by giving money away...
I know someone who worked for George Lucas. Hearsay, I know, but he claims that Lucas in known for the same anti-tipping stance. And, he’s an asshole. It’s a shame he didn’t make a cameo in The Phantom Menace, he would have fit right in.
maybe they don’t deserve a tip - the service was poor
Waiters at Nonna Betta, which specialises in Roman Jewish cuisine, were amazed by Mr Zuckerberg's parsimony, not just because of his huge wealth but because of Americans' reputation for tipping generously, as is expected of them at home.
Now compare these two considerations. 1) He's a multibillionaire. 2) He's an American!
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies.
How much do you think this publicity might cost him? Think about it. $10 million ? It’s easy to see it. Is he stupid? The law of conservation says, yes, he must be in many ways.
Precisely. Most rich cheapskates who hate to tip..... They start tipping because the bad publicity hurts them. I read a story how that gay dude who sings for REM stiffed a New York City waitress who was a fan. Michael Stipe and his entourage left her nothing
But his children won't be because his wife is Chinese. Pathetic
it’s a stupid move by this shyster a slick con-man peddling worthless stock to gullible sheeple .
But Zuckersnob is an Obama supporter, likely athletic. Nuf said!
Scotty Pippin of the Chicago Bulls had a moniker, “no tippin Pippin”.
Scotty is now rumored to be bust. Tough toe nails. What comes around, goes around.
It might have something to do with losing 10 billion dollars this week in stock value? He’s Zucked.
Americans’ reputation for tipping generously, as is expected of them at home.<<<
They’re not home. They’re in Rome. What ever happened to “When in Rome...”
Perhaps this establishment is accustomed to the extra tips from tourists who don’t know any better, so they resent Americans (especially wealthy ones) who are knowledgeable about these things.
I was thinking more about the habits people develop that allow them to become rich. Giving money away for publicity purposes or tax reasons is a different ballgame and one based on a calculated benefit to themselves.
Like I say, rich people don’t get rich by being in the habit of giving money away.
