The airlines are making it much more difficult for families with children to travel these days. In recent developments: United Airlines joined US Airways and American Airlines in no longer offering preboarding for families with kids flying in coach. Families are having more difficulty getting adjoining seats. That's because airlines are reserving more seats for frequent fliers and those willing to pay, usually $50 round trip, for the most desirable seats in coach -- window and aisle, and closest to the front of the plane.

Actually I don’t fly and haven’t since 2002. Those idiotic fees were not started till AFTER I quit flying. But they do make sure I probably won’t darken an airport ever again.
I won’t say never, as something could come up but like I said, its been 10 years and counting.

Taking luggage on a plane is a necessity for most people and NOT an amenities. Just cause the airlines call them that don't make it so. If they charged extra for oxygen, would you call that an amenities also?
Depends.
How important is breathing to you?
Personally, I filter all the air I breath through a cigarette. ;)

Too many parents use that extra time not to get their bags stowed and their children settled, but to let loose their precious monkeys to climb and bounce on the seats, play in the aisles, and/or hover over the seat backs, sliming the passengers behind them. Of course the real problem isn’t antsy kids, but the enabling parents who put it upon strangers to enforce civility.
And they generally are more polite afterwards, and want to know about the rank and ribbons.
NCOs were invented because parents fail.

And just think, now the parents wont be with them. You could well end up being a de facto baby sitter.
I’m thinking there are probably a lot of baby mammas and daddys that LOVE this policy.
Last airline I flew on was Delta, and they still do allow families with children to preboard.
Allowing the govt to put it’s slimy, disease-ridden claws in the industry again isn’t the answer. If you don’t like an airline’s policies, don’t fly with them. It’s that simple.
During the age of regulation flying was for the elite, prices were pinned sky high. People complain about the fees but it’s their own fault, the fact is they don’t want to buy a ticket listed at price X, but they’re willing to buy a ticket listed at half that and still PAY X after the fees. If people wouldn’t demand low list prices there wouldn’t be the fees. It’s not like airlines are making a profit, X is what they actually need to charge, but the people demand they be sneaky about it, so they are.
