MONTEREY, Tenn. -- "If somebody told me this happened to them, I absolutely would not believe this could happen in America." "You live in the United States, you think you have rights -- and apparently you don't," said George Reby.
Hmm, how long before badmouthing the President brings the police to your door. Seems the law gets more and more absurd everyday.
>meet a fate similar to that of Hopkins.
I don’t know what you think really happened to him, but after retiring, he died in his bed of TB.
The other stories are - media inventions.
Your future watchwords should be “I think, therefore I doubt the press.”
how ‘bout that
No excuses for leaving early, and rarely anybody did... because they knew it would be Monday or Tuesday before they got theirs...
I also kept $5-10k around in case there was something good to buy at the pawn shops! Cash is king there!!!
interesting that a large sum of money was asked for and that there was one... perhaps the new currency has an electronic signature that can be picked up by radar... perhaps threads woven into the denominations.

How about, "Officer, if I had any cash my wife would find it."
That's a good question; unfortionately, I read about a case a while back where, essentially, the refusal to allow an unwarranted search was the justification (probable cause) for the search.
Sadly, I did not think to bookmark that case.
Given the state of our 'justice' system though, I would not be surprised if that were to become precedent and "well established law."
One of these days, I hope at least, people will get fed up with such abuse and hang those evil men who perpetrate and perpetuate such a system.
You ALWAYS refuse a consent to search. Reason being if they had probable cause they would not have to ask your consent they would just tell you they are doing it.
I don’t know, HiTech. I didn’t post much on the threads or talk to him. I did see several instances where admins added their comments to thread titles like ‘(another anti-LEO post)’ and arguments would ensue over that.
Shoot, if I had been Magical I would have started adding that to my topic lines myself, except in sarcasm quotes. Let the content and discussion speak for itself. Tennessee is probably not the worst policed place in the land, but it’s where Magical lived and got most of his attention.
Real estate auctions usually require a buy in price of several thousand dollars. Cash may not be common at those auctions but not uncommon. Some cash businesses will make that much in a weekend and regularly transport it to their bank
“Oh isn’t that interesting, Occifer. Our time stamped interior camera, transmitting real time to our offsite secure Linux server, shows me in my seat belt up to this moment, and our news crew is watching all of this. We’re thinking the 10:00 PM news.”
IIRC the late Congressman Henry Hyde shepherded through some reforms which significantly raised the bar for such seizures. If the person is not of interest as a fleeing felon, the state must now show in court with “clear and convincing evidence” (the highest that can be asked by a civil court) that the seized property was illicit before it can be kept. That would seem to free up most money if there is even a shabby excuse for its presence. Vague news articles are less than helpful here.
damn good answer.
Question.....Do you have cameras constantly on streaming to uploaders while driving your vehicle?
Only an idiot would pay cash for a car.
“I’m paying cash”
“OK give it to me and I’ll get a receipt”
Later
“Where the receipt for my money?”
“What money?”
If there is any time such a thing is feasible, it would be today. There are services such as Clear (clear.com) which provide 4G connectivity in many urban/suburban areas. When I called Clear to inquire, they said yes my modem and account will be portable to any Clear area without having to request authorization, though if I move I should call and have my billing address updated if I want to keep getting my bills in the mail. The popo could try to jam Clear, I suppose, but this practice would draw the frowns of the FCC.
receipt schmeceipt. we sit at a table with witnesses, you present me with signed title and i present you with lettuce.
still, since some counterfeit american bills are forged so well that the common pen tests, etc. will not detect them (a microscope might but who has that), the seller is risking getting burnt too. i have always paid by check for cars.
A receipt can be written on a napkin.
You made a false argument. If you don’t have it, then don’t present it. It still does not finish the line of questioning from the police.
