'If you let one [truant student] run loose, what are you gonna' do with the rest of 'em? Let them go too?' asked Judge Moriarty. He had warned her last month to stop missing her classes.

'She goes from job to job, from school, she stays up 'til 7 o'clock in the morning to study' she said. On the homepage of the school's website, there is a warning to students to be vigilant about their attendance.

I am so sorry this is happening in my county, Mountgomery County, about twelve miles from me. I didn’t know about this until I read it here.

This county is about 90% Republican and Willis is a real “bubba” part of the county - the beginning of the rural area. The people in Willis are nice people and know what work is. This judge is nuts. Every case is not the same.

I’ll do some checking on him, contact some people. We don’t want judges like him. This is awful.

Wow. My niece would be sentenced to life in prison due to her excessive absences! And there’s not much I can do because her mother allows it. But she still manages a solid B average. What does this say about our schools? I think she’s just bored, actually. (My niece.)

Far too many judges want to change society to their own template with little reference to enforcing the law.

My other fault is that I believe education should challenge the student’s intellect rather than being boring to teachers and students alike.

In some states schools receive money from the state based on the number of students in attendance.

It is about money not the education of students.

Follow the money trail.

Today is Monday. A facebook page has been set up for Diane and you can contribute there. The money will be in a trust for her so her parents can’t get to it.

I went to facebook and donated. Over $25,000 has been raised so far.

If you can contribute something, please go there and do that. Let’s put a smile on Diane’s face instead of those tears rolling down her cheeks.

I heard it said, by a wise Freeper, that public schools are prisons for those who have committed the crime of being born.

Donations are now over $29.000. I sent an email to Willis High School. It wasn’t nasty, I told them how they could help Diane. I did say she was too smart for Willis High School.

Diane is finishing the 11th grade right now. It’s possible for private Rice University in Houston, to give her place out exams and admit her now. Rice is for really smart kids. My son was one of them, and he took place out exams for Engligh and History and Math and went on to more advanced courses there.

Texas A&M, where I think she said her brother is going, is also for exceptional students. She could take place out exams there and likely be admitted.

I’m not through with this case. As a counselor in a high school, I helped kids get into college and I know how that works. Her high school counselor has dropped the ball if she/he ever had it.

I’ll get in touch with her employer where she lives, and see if I can talk to Diane and give some advice about approaching universities to get in now instead of wasting her time for another year at Willis High School.

Once she is in college, she can regulate her time to attend classes and to work. In college, your time is your own to arrange how you want it to be.

Plus, she is so bright, she will get scholarships to perhaps cover all her school expenses so her work money is her own to help her sister and brother. Hopefully, her brother is also working while going to school.

Jailing a 17 year old for truancy? Who are THE IDIOT FOOLS who wrote such a law to start with? If the story is true Him Highness needs to be removed by public protest in front of the courthouse. The girl should be given her high school diploma. She has far more knowledge, ambition, and wisdom than the adults running that county and likely the state as well it seems. Running public officals out of town on a rail used to be a tradition for one who abuses their authority.

BTW Judge where is the Arrest Warrant for the missing parents? I'm highly certain with a little extra LEO effort they can be found fairly quick. That is the real unforgivable and inexcusable crime done here and the state needs to get on it.

As of now, Monday, 5:00 pm central time, $30,000 has been raised. Diane has three days of school tests starting tomorrow. The goal for money is $50,000 by the time she finishes these tests. Hard to see how she can concentrate on these tests with all that’s happening to her right now.

Please go to Diane Tran facebook page and donate.

In 2014, when this judge runs again, I will make every effort to see that this barely high school graduate judge, gets kicked out. He can’t even write a decent complete sentence. He should be jailed for being stupid.

Saw this in the Houston newspaper today, Tuesday, so universities are contacting her - this one is from Stanford that takes outstanding sudents:

“Among those reaching out to help support Tran is a school official at Stanford who wants to talk to her about possibly being admitted to one of their summer programs.”

Over $50,000 has now been raised for her.
