Hecklers Mar Romney Visit to Inner-City Charter School in Phila. ("get out" of black neighborhood
The Washington Post ^ | Thursday, May 24, 2012 | Philip Rucker

When Mitt Romney came to an inner-city charter school here Thursday to promote his new education agenda, he received something of a history lecture about the persecution of blacks in America and the struggles of African American children to meet the academic achievements of their white counterparts.

Seeking to broaden his appeal heading into the general election, Romney was venturing for his first time in this campaign into an impoverished black neighborhood to hear the concerns of local educators and community leaders. But here in the streets of West Philadelphia, the emotion surrounding his contest with the nation’s first black president was raw, as dozens of neighborhood residents shouted, “Get out, Romney, get out!”

Outside, meanwhile, some brick row houses across from the school were boarded up. Police had cordoned off a full city block to protect Romney and his entourage. Residents, some of them organized by Obama’s campaign, stood on their porches and gathered at a sidewalk corner to shout angrily at Romney. Some held signs saying, “We are the 99%.” One man’s placard trumpeted an often-referenced Romney gaffe: “I am not concerned about the very poor.”

Madaline G. Dunn, 78, who said she has lived here for 50 years and volunteers at the school, said she is “personally offended” that Romney would visit her neighborhood.

“It’s not appreciated here,” she said. “It is absolutely denigrating for him to come in here and speak his garbage.”

When he visited a classroom where the kids in the elementary school choir were standing, swaying and clapping to the beat of Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile,” Romney appeared charmed but did not dance with them. Rather, he tapped one of his toes slightly and bobbed his head, but did not catch the rhythm..

If I were Romney, I wouldn't waste any time or money making campaign stops in black neighborhoods. He's not going to earn any of their votes and he'll only get heckled and jeered.

He needs to chase the votes he can get.

Was Romney called racist for trying to talk with blacks?

97% of nonracists blacks say no. They then vote for the black one.

Well, Zero can't very well run on his record now can he?

This is the big plan- to portray Obama opponents as racists either directly or via bombastic class warfare rhetoric. But it all refers back to demonizing and cowing whitey. They still cling to the fantasy that white guilt will kick in as it did in 2008. Won't work this time as their finger-wagging-moral-high ground will be exposed as a heaping pile of astroturf. (Exposed only in the new media) This cynical tactic will blow up in their face big time. It's dangerous too, they know it, but, for them, the ends justify any means. Such a nasty bunch.

Oh, and another thing, I don't believe the polls this time around. A lot of regular people I know not particularly politically-minded are seething but keeping it mostly under wraps, preferring to vent in the voting booth. I can honestly testify that nobody I've spoken to in the past three plus years has described or hinted that Zero was "likable." Far from it! More leftist propaganda.

Madeline G. Dunn (Husband Rodney) is ‘offended’ Mitt Romeny ventured into her domain and politicked. Were she and Rodney offended when the two black panther goons intimidated white voters there?

So am I.
Why on earth would Romney go anywhere near the putrid bowels of a concentrated Democrat parasite nest ("city") like Philadelphia?
To broaden his appeal??
Romney is a moron.

Pray for America. Real America.

I was thinking about what I have been learning in psych classes. When an individual comes into hard times there are 2 ways to react. 1. keep trying, don’t give up. 2. blame everyone else in what is called -— learned helplessness.

This morning I thought that it could be reasonable to conclude that the education system is reinforcing bad parenting and teaching children learned helplessness by not letting them struggle through a problem and by taking out ALL competition in the early years. It’s just an idea, of course.

Oh, it is already documented that smaller classes are better all around. No need to spend more money.

Precisely.
Unless Mittens promises to pay their rent, put gas in their SUVs, triple their food stamps, and give them lots of "free money" from "his stash", Romney is wasting his time. He has to know this. Is his campaign really this incompetent?

They can sink or swim on their own.

Agreed...let them fend for themselves. Starve the beast.

And, on a related point, money is not the biggest problem facing these schools.

If you have critical masses of kids who don’t know how to behave, or don’t want to behave in class, then not much learning will take place. If critical masses of kids think that doing well in school is “acting white”, then similarly, not too much education will happen.

Considering the environment in these schools is not conducive to learning, and, that unfortunately, the homes many of these kids live in are chaotic, and not conducive to keeping up with homework, among other things, then you end up with critical masses of uneducated kids.

Actually it will help convince on the fence whites about the existence of black racism. Romney is being very smart by doing what he is doing since it exposes the race hustlers for what they are! He should continue to engage black and hispanic voters no matter how vicious they get for once the mushy middle see the type of unfair treatment he gets, it will harden the mushy middle’s attitudes against the Obamaites!

Madaline Dunn sounds like an obama voter. In fact she sounds like an obama relative!

This is where Eric Holder’s New Black Panther Party tried to prevent white people from voting.

Actually, I’d like to see Romney visit the neighbor hood again...just to see this lady and personally offend her again by his presence!

Romney did what Obama advocated his accolytes do...he “got in their face”! (and they got offended by it!)

"West Philly = HELLHOLE"

Chicago, LA, Boston, Cleveland, Miami, SF, Houston, Atlanta, Baltimore, Knoxville, Pittsburgh, NYC all have one thing in common (besides guaranteed liberal voting blocks) - SEGREGATION.

Ghetto residents live in cities and face most of the costs --monetary and otherwise -- of urban residence. But the ghetto cuts them off from the informational connections and job markets that make city living worthwhile for so many people.
