The 96th running of the Indy 500 coming up shortly on ABC.
what a mess of a restart..
What the heck kind of restarts are these? You can pass anytime after the green waves? Sounds like a recipe for carnage!!
Andretti!!! What a restart....hope they show his foxy mother and girlfriend..
If they want cowlings, let them merge into ALMS.
On the 500, yes, it`s a memorial weekend spectacle/tradition, not much else.
In terms of skill, I have zero interest. If you`re into high speed crashes from drivers who could never cut it in F1 then it`s your cuppa.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz i’m an F1 fan but those cars go at a pedestrian pace compared to that’s happening now...
they were going to allow Lotus to put more horsepower into the engine for this race...about a half dozen teams have already changed from Lotus to Chevy engines the first month of the season...
both Lotus cars have been pushed into Gasoline Alley- 500 over for them...
once the green waves you can race again...ironically they scrapped the double file restarts from last year, which were incredible and exciting because the racers wanted single file restarts...
Hinchcliff in under the green???? WTF??
Hinchcliff had a puncture which is why he entered...
The ABC coverage of Lorenzo Bandidi burning in his car at Monaco kinda put the damper on F1 for me. After that the cars changed or something. There have been a couple of brief rekindling of interest with me and F1 since but basically It just isn’t that interesting for me any more.
The series expanding to more of a “world” series instead of European, North and South America was kind of a turn off. I don’t know why. It’s kind of like watching American football in the U.K. it’s OK just different.
We had pit passes prior to the race, lunch with Team Rahal the day before the race, and got to see the cars up close and personal in the garage. David Letterman was there also, but the guy was a complete jerk who won't acknowledge or talk to anyone.
Bobby Rahal, Buddy Rice and Vitor Miera couldn't possibly have been nicer. At the victory party after the race, all three posed with my wife and I for pictures and we have all three of their signatures on the hats we wore that day, along with the winning team shirts that were given away at the after-party. We also have the pit passes signed by all three, and have the pins, ticket stubs, etc from that day.
It was a great two-day experience that the wife and I look back on very fondly. Still big fans of Team Rajal, hope they have a GREAT day today.

Stupid looking cars.
Stupid sounding cars.
Marco having a good race so far. I was at Indy for the 500 in 1981. Mario appeared to have won, but after the race was over they penalized him for what was called a pass under yellow while on pit exit.
his driver Sato is doing a terrific job...funny Rahal’s son, who should’ve been the next great American OWR, does not race for his dad...
Kanaan having problems with car...
very good...when he had a 7 second lead he dialed it back to 210mph, i assume to save the engine...the Chevy’s are fast but no one knows how they will last for 500mph...
under 9 seconds for a full stop under green for Marco- good pit....Honda’s getting better mileage then Chevy’s- something to watch...
Bandidi = Bandini ...still can’t type on my tablet.
I for one lament the switch from front engine to rear engine when ...wait....conway and power crash!
same type of crash Conway had at the end of the race two years ago at almost same exact place....ditto for Power at last years Vegas tragedy- fortunately he did not launch...
