On the 500, yes, it`s a memorial weekend spectacle/tradition, not much else.
In terms of skill, I have zero interest. If you`re into high speed crashes from drivers who could never cut it in F1 then it`s your cuppa.

The ABC coverage of Lorenzo Bandidi burning in his car at Monaco kinda put the damper on F1 for me. After that the cars changed or something. There have been a couple of brief rekindling of interest with me and F1 since but basically It just isn’t that interesting for me any more.
The series expanding to more of a “world” series instead of European, North and South America was kind of a turn off. I don’t know why. It’s kind of like watching American football in the U.K. it’s OK just different.
