Undocumented Immigrants Pursue College and Professional Careers May 26, 2012
Higher education is becoming a more common endeavor for undocumented immigrants eager to pursue careers as professionals. Going to college seemed inconceivable when Adriana Sánchez, the 12-year-old daughter of farm workers, was brought from Mexico to Central California and the family overstayed their visas.
Even though Sánchez excelled in high school, she was in the country illegally, lacked a Social Security number and work permit, and didn't qualify for financial aid. But she volunteered hundreds of hours and paid her way through college and graduate school with a dozen internships.
Now 24, Sánchez graduated last week from California State University, Fresno with a master's degree in International Relations, a full-time job and no loans to repay. Using a gray area in federal law, she works as an independent contractor.
"For most undocumented students, you have to put yourself out there. You volunteer, you go beyond what regular students do," Sánchez said. "That's what connects us to opportunities. Now employers call me."
With thousands of young adults who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children now holding college degrees, Sánchez and others are finding creative ways to get around the legal roadblocks and find a career. They are getting work experience, opening businesses and seeking professional licenses in their fields.
The Associated Press interviewed about two dozen such graduates across the country. Some, like many legal graduates, are struggling in a grim economy. But others do highly-skilled work, though not always in their professions. Many are "out" about their status despite the risk of deportation; a few asked not to be identified for fear it could cost them their jobs or alert immigration authorities.

Y’know, the sucker type Americans who pay taxes that fund those colleges, many scholarships, not to mention her highschool as well as whatever other handouts she and her family sucked up.

She is an illegal alien and though her achievements are admirable she should be deported to her home country where she can be a human asset.
Though I doubt that her field of major in ‘international relations’ would be much of a benefit to future employment opportunities, one never knows!

What happens when an illegal becomes a Professor of Constitutional law? You get Obama, a guy who knows nothing about the Constitution.
I send that statement to all my liberal friends here in New York city and ask them to send me one scintilla of evidence that Obama even knows what the US Constitution is.
No big breaks for regular Americans, goes double for the oppressive white male.
They are taking the educations and careers citizens don’t want, especially during these times of abundance Obama has brought to us.

How are these people going to get jobs? I am an academic and had to prove I was a citizen or had the right to work here. Years ago when I did temp work, I had to prove the same. For years, in all kinds of jobs, I had to prove I had the right to work in this country.
How is anyone going to get a professional level job and not have documents?
This isn’t going to end well. They won’t all get fake documents. At some point, they will say they went to school in this country, have a degree or trade, and now they want a job, even though they can’t prove they should be here. It’s gonna be messy.

No, she didn’t. The CA taxpayer paid her way through college, at least to the tune of the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition, which is usually a $10K/yr difference.

She should go back to her native country, Mexico, and be an asset there, and give the job she took to some American kid who desperately needs it.
If she wants to be an American she should apply for citizenship and get in line with everyone else.
Are illegal immigrants adding to the cost of higher education and, if so, how much? With higher education costs and student debt becoming political issues answers to the above questions must be answered.

We all have to prove that we are authorized to work here; the fact that this illegal alien pursued her studies diligently doesn’t exclude her prospective emplyers from that requirement. Obama is targeting these people with this DREAM act nonsense; he needs it in place quickly so that HE can work here legally.

All told, the haul was worth about $500,000 on the street when sold to "impoverished illegals." Police also recovered $6,000 in cash, which was the first payment from a NJ fake document broker for a shipment of 500 phony Social Security cards. ####

REFERENCE March 8, 2012 KENNER, La. -- Kenner police arrested illegal Marvin Baca who sold false W-2 forms to another illegal immigrant for $1,500. Baca sold fraudulent W-2 forms for $1,500 to other Hispanics here illegally.
Police said that on one of the forged W-2 forms had a SS no of a person living in Virginia. Police said illegal Hispanics purchase fictitious W-2 forms and file false tax returns with the government to receive EITC refunds. Baca was charged with one count of ID theft and two counts of forgery.
