MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (CBS ATLANTA) -
An honor student in Texas was thrown in jail after she missed too many classes at her high school.
A judge issued Diane Tran, 17, a summons Wednesday for her excessive truancy after she missed class. She was arrested in open court.
Last month, Tran was issued a warning by the judge for missing school.
Tran said she works both full-time and part-time jobs, in addition to taking advanced and college level courses.
But the judge said Tran's case was bigger than the individual situation of one student.
"If you let one run loose, what are you gonna' do with the rest of 'em?," said Judge Lanny Moriarty. "Let them go too? A little stay in the jail for one night is not a death sentence."

****!
In America today, preborn babies can receive the death penalty, and indeed, a million a year so perish. This girl’s mother, whatever her other defects, was at least gracious enough to allow her to live, thereby automatically commuting her death sentence for the crime of having been conceived to diurnal incarceration for 180 days during each of 12 successive years in a penal institution called “school.” Any regime that kills a million of its people a year or fails to protect its people from the same fate at the hands of one another constitutes a tyranny by definition.
In this twisted, tyrannical, anti-life regime, Diane Tran is not a girl trying to take advantage of an educational opportunity given her while doing her best to fulfill as a surrogate the critical role of parenting her sister. Instead, she represents a fugitive from repression who deserves subjugation.

Personally, I recently made a decision. I consider government socialist-entitlement schooling to be soooo evil and harmful for the child and our nation, that I will no longer have a government school employee for a friend. They are either too evil, too stupid, or too much of a Useful Idiot.
How dare she perform at a higher level than the Gomers and Zombies?
Thi is nothing more than the application of sound socialist doctrine.
This is the same Wack-A-Mole thought process that fuels labor unions.
I’d like to send her some money to help with her fine, poor child needs help
Made it to the Daily Mail (UK) with photos (and of course, anti-American comments)
But bigheadfred said Lanny Moriarty’s case was bigger than the individual situation of one stupid judge.
“If you let one run loose, what are you gonna’ do with the rest of ‘em?,” said Freeper bigheadfred. “Let them go too? A long stay in the jail...or a death sentence....”
How to prove you are a dumb ass with one sentence.
“If you let one run loose, what are you gonna’ do with the rest of ‘em?,” said Judge Lanny Moriarty. “Let them go too? A little stay in the jail for one night is not a death sentence.
Working 2-3 jobs honoring in high school taking advanced college courses is not running loose!
What is loose is the Judges common sense...........
this is classic socialism
individual rights go out the window
Just be happy this dangerous criminal is off the streets. LOL
Ok... I am confused about this
First of all she is 17... as far as I know the law only says you have to go to school till 16. Anyone 16 to 18 can drop out anytime they wish (with a parents permission).
So... if she can legally drop out... how it is illegal for her to miss a few days?

Tran said she works a full-time job, a part-time job and takes advanced placement and dual credit college level courses. She said she is often too exhausted to wake up in time for school. Sometimes she misses the entire day, she said. Sometimes she arrives after attendance has been taken.
The judge ordered Tran to spend 24 hours in jail and pay a $100 fine. Judge Moriarty admitted that he wants to make an example of Tran.
If you let one (truant student) run loose, what are you gonna do with the rest of em? Let them go too? Judge Moriarty asked.
Tran said she is working so hard because she is helping to support an older brother who attends Texas A&M University and a baby sister who lives with relatives in Houston. Tran said her parents divorced out of the blue and both moved away, leaving her in Willis. Her mother lives in Georgia, she said.
I always thought our family was happy, the teen said tearfully.
Tran lives with the family of one of her employers. They own a wedding venue. She works at the Vineyard of Waverly Manor on weekends and at a dry cleaners full time.
She goes from job to job, from school she stays up til 7 oclock in the morning, said her friend, co-worker and classmate Devin Hill.

As I recall Roger Hedgecock said on his show that she also had a brother that she was helping to pay college for.
This is typical of the way tyrants think. The injustice doesn't bother this judge one bit because he is the law as far he is concerned and she is just some uppity Asian girl that thinks she is above his law.
Sic Semper Tyrannis!
Everything really is bigger in Texas, even the punishment for playing hookey.
If my memory serves me correctly, when Newt Gingrich was campaigning one of his ideas was to throw out some of the liberal judges - obviously, this judge is one of them.
This was in 1953, but I quit school when 14 years old because finishing the eighth grade was all that was required to do so at the time. My single mother resisted, but going to work full time was needed to help support my four younger siblings. Not to mention, I absolutely hated sitting stifled in a class room.
As I state on my home page; “Being an autodidact, I happily escaped the bureaucratization of intellect”
>>You lose jobs.
Kim Kardashian is loose.<<
Good thing you are here! You addressed something hugh and series.
Oh, and you might be a Grammar Nazi but you don’t know “punctuation.”
