An exasperated Elizabeth Warren told reporters Thursday that shes certain about her Native American roots because my mother told me so.
Surrounded by a group of reporters, the Democratic Massachusetts Senate candidate was repeatedly questioned about why she hasnt produced documentation to prove that she is part Native American. After several minutes of grilling, Warren said, I am proud of my family and I am proud of my heritage.
And does it include Indian background? one reporter asked, according to the first report by masslive.com that was aired on several local Boston TV stations

Ma told me..? Yeah Lizzie, Ma also said she loved you...but did you ever think she might be jiving?
A recent poll here in MA shows her tied with Brown —up several points from two months ago.
AFAIK, the reason is a blackout from the local media, and a $2 million PR ad spend by Warren.
Heritage is a funny thing. I can trace my Georgia ancestors back to before the Civil War, mostly through stuff my mom gave me like obituaries, news clippings and records from my grand dad. On my father’s side, things are much more sketchy because that side of the family was from South Carolina sharecropping origin and not much in the way of records are available.
I have one picture of the women from my father’s family that must have been taken in the early 1900s. My grandmother is very young in it. Her mother is there also who family lore says was 1/2 Cherokee. She looked like she could be - heck, even my grandma for that matter. That would make me 1/16th Cherokee. However, outside of mostly joking about it in posts, etc. I have never, ever tried to trade on it, and I have always listed myself as ‘white’ on forms when it is asked.
Given Warren’s taking advantage of unproven lore, it just reinforces to me the vainess and scheming that is ingrained in most Democrats.
Isn’t the self-esteem movement great?
She claims there are attack adds by Scott Brown on this issue. I haven’t seen any, looks like another lie.
Ding Ding Ding....WINNER!
Mr. Burns: I specifically said “no geeks”!
Milhouse: But my mom says I’m cool...
According to the site Lazamatz showed us this is her name
Your Native American Name Is: Bly Lenmana
Your name means: Tall Flute Girl
It’s amusing to see Warren being thrown off message by this controversy. In the long run, I don’t think it’ll have a major impact.
I think she might have peed in her own teepee.
She will definitely be doing everything she can to avoid Sharman Scarcetti.
That's good...still prefer Fauxcahantas.
OK. Time to back off. She has raised the mommy flag. Seriously, I have family traditions and stories which I treasure but for which I have no proof. For example, that my great grandfather fought at Shiloh Church. The fact that it was passed down as Shiloh Church tells me he was fighting for the south. I have searched the databases but if he was militia, he wouldn’t have showed up. I also have nothing more than the Mormon website saying that my sixth great grand mother was a “Cherokee Princess” but I like that piece of information and I’m keeping it. I don’t however, put it down on applications or census forms. So I guess that’s the difference.
Mom also said “If a man is bothered by your unshaved armpits and legs he’s not worth worrying about”.
My mother's family tree includes a number of names such as Naquin, Picou and Billiot, all common among Indian-French families in central and south Louisiana (and those ancestors lived in parishes where members of the Houma tribe were known to reside).
Have I ever claimed to be part "Native American"? No. But I'll bet I could put forward a more convincing case than Warren.
I doubt if that's true, unless you count "you're not an Indian" as an "attack".
It's not.
Some of my best friends are not Indians.
Heck, most of the people I know are not Indians.
I'd wager that over half of Americans are not Indians.
It's nothing to be ashamed of.
At least I have a picture to back mine up....Liawatha Warren can only say “My mommy told me!!!”
