President Obama surprised contestants at the 2012 National Geographic Bee by asking them a question on the location of a recent nuclear summit.
"Before I give you my answer, I want to congratulate all the students who are participating in this competition," Obama said in a video appearance to the ten student competitors before asking the question. "The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together."
"Now my answer: in March, I met with leaders of more than 50 countries at the nuclear security summit ... This Asian capital city located on the Han river hosted the meeting," Obama asked.

When does this guy work?
Betcha he didn’t know that before the meeting prep...
What does Obama know about bridging “divides” and bringing people together? Nothing.
did he ask him when the 57th state got into the union?
Drone...buzzword...drone...buzzword...drone...The man has no idea how deeply boring he is.
I know! P-O-T-A-T-O-E!!!!
Where was I born?
Did he follow that by saying "that's the meeting where I promised the Russian president that after the election I would have more flexibility in selling out the interests of the American people while irreparably damaging national security"?
Ummmmm......France?
Geomograty wasn’t my best subject in skool.
LOL!
Perhaps I am mistaken. The pResident made his statement as an “answer.” That’s the way they do it on Jeopardy. They give you the answer, the contestant says (or writes) the question.
I believe that in the Geography Bee, they ask questions ... and the contestants write out answers, not questions. So, once again, the Enlightened One proved to be somewhat dim-witted. Some people do everything bass-ackwards.
If wrong, I apologize. But if I’m right, perhaps I should run for President!
It’s tough being brilliant
“Bread; apples; uh, very small rocks; cider; grape gravy; cherries; nuts; churches, churches; lead, lead;...a duck!”
“appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents.”
Different cultures are not one size fits all when it comes to acceptable as they all have bits and pieces that don’t mesh with our individual styles, tastes, ideals and morals.
It’s perfectly fine to accept the parts of different cultures one agrees with and it’s equally okay to reject those parts of other cultures one finds unacceptable.
Trying to shove it down our throats in a one size fits all category is an affront to our liberty of freedom of association.
On what continent is Austrian spoken?
More like geography bee minus.
He not only is a geography expert, but also a financial expert, as the above speech in Hawaii amply demonstrates.
