Left Targets Chief Justice Roberts To Save ObamaCare
IBD Editorials ^ | May 23, 2012 | Editor

The Judiciary: Controlling the politically insulated federal courts, especially the Supreme Court, has long been atop the left's to-do list. Since it doesn't own Chief Justice John Roberts, now the game is to shame him.

The battle over retaining the liberal politicization of the courts, symbolized by Chief Justice Earl Warren's tenure, goes back at least as far as President Nixon's failed nominations of Clement Haynsworth and Harrold Carswell in 1969-70; extended to the "borking" of President Reagan's nomination of Judge Robert Bork in 1987; and ultimately sank to the bottom of the gutter in the character assassination of President George H.W. Bush's appointee, Justice Clarence Thomas, in 1991.

President Obama took political meddling with the Supreme Court a step further when he stood before some of the justices assembled within the Capitol for his first State of the Union address. From that platform, he referred to the court's McCain-Feingold ruling, charging that "the Supreme Court reversed a century of law that, I believe, will open the floodgates for special interests."

Last month, the president contended that if the high court ruled ObamaCare unconstitutional, it would mean "an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law" — which is the Supreme Court's duty of judicial review that it has "somehow" carried out since Marbury v. Madison in 1803, and which the Warren Court did in landmark liberal cases such as Brown v. Board of Education and Griswold v. Connecticut.

Legal icon of the left Laurence Tribe soon appeared to explain that his former Harvard Law student didn't really mean it. But despite the dubious alibis, Obama is obviously once again miming the president to whom he most wishes to be compared.

This would be a good time for Roberts and the boys to remind the liberal fags that we’ve got THREE branches of government in this country. They can take their Nazi BS somewhere else.

“an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law”
...........................................................

It shows Obama’s contempt for Unelected people(Thats us folks).
The elected people had best remember that unelected people put them there, and unelected people can unelect them as we intend to do with our fraudulently elected Faux pResident.

Actually on every crunch case I’ve seen he’s been on the right side. Which supreme court cases are you thinking of?

Only proves how right the founding fathers were! What they didn’t grasp was that there would be a bunch of idiots that would voluntarily give their rights away to be enslaved by idiots that call themselves democrats.

Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, freed the slaves.\

It was Woodrow “the racist” Wilson that segregated toilet facilities in Washington for blacks.

It was JFK that couldn’t vote racial equality in 1956, ‘cuz he was preparing for presidency in ‘56.

It was Ike who sent federal troops to fight the bigots in the south against Wallace, et.al.

It was JFK and Robert Kennedy Jr. who put wiretaps on Martin Luther King to investigate him. And yet I have seen the stupid velvet pictures of them on the walls of blacks that seem to give worship to them.

It wasn’t the left that gave the Civil Rights bill predominance during the 60’s, it was the Republicans that decided the issue, not the demorats. The southern states balked big time in that.

I will give the Republicans kudos in a lot of that. I just hate that they try to champion over something that they have disavowed and reputiated throughout their whole history.

Blessings, Bobo

May I respectfully add that it was Warren G. Harding that removed Woodrow “the bigot’s” rules about segregated toilets in Washington?

That was after Wilson’s reign of terror in the WH.

Interesting. The pubs just wanted to treat them like normal citizens, the dems wanted to treat them as the underdog that they created.

That is why the demorats have taken over the schools, they wouldn’t want the truth to be known.

I don’t think the Left has anything with which to ‘target’ Justice Roberts with, other than their usual flatus.

The libs have a history of infiltratrating government institutions and
non gov, non partisan organizations such as the League of Women Voters and AARP and redirecting function and purpose. No limits
when you are a bunch of self righteous b@stards.

He swore him in twice because there supposedly was an issue with the oath words. But are you serious that he was sworn in once with the crayon?
