Tampa Police have announced two of four suspects wanted for the vicious beating of a Tampa soldier have been arrested.
According to detectives, Army soldier Johnny Aparicio, 24, was walking east on Iowa Avenue in South Tampa on Sunday when he was approached and asked for a dollar. When Aparicio replied, three suspects hit him in the face and upper body, knocking him to the ground. A fourth suspect came running and joined in the beating.
"The detective interviewed one of the suspects the very next day after the robbery and he told him to do his job and investigate, and maybe he'll solve the crime," Tampa Police spokesperson Andrea Davis said, "and that's exactly what he did. It just made him more motivated to go out and do that."
Davis said Robinson High School student Geroshe Lewis, 18, of Tampa, and Lerome Howard, 18, of Sulphur Springs, were arrested Friday in connection to the beating. Howard is not a student at the school.
Lewis was arrested at the school on Friday afternoon as the school day ended, Davis said. Howard was arrested at his home without incident Friday afternoon.
"The victim is aware of the arrest and obviously he's happy," Davis said. Aparicio picked one of the suspects out of a "photo-pack" on Friday.
Hillsborough County School District spokeserson Steve Hegarty said Lewis will not return to Robinson High School.
"Geroshe Lewis is a senior and belonged to no clubs and does not play any sports," Hegarty said. "He is not in the school yearbook. Based on the charges and the seriousness of the alleged crimes, he will not be returning."
After being questioned at a Tampa Police Department substation Friday night, both suspects were taken and booked into the Orient Road Jail on charges of robbery and aggravated battery.
I find it sad that these kids are basically flunkies. This is the state of black youth in our country, and with school being out in many parts of Florida, it's shaping up to be a long summer.
More of Obama's composite sons?
...with names like those...
Sounds like Holders people are busy.
An epedemic of white racism harming blacks everywhere\ sarc.
As Thomas Sowell said, there is a race war going on in this country and it’s mostly random attacks by blacks on whites. This is scary.
If zero had sons, they would look like Lewis and Howard...

“I find it sad that these kids are basically flunkies.”
Isn’t it, though. Not everyone be in a position to be staked by influential American Communists and wealthy Saudis, and eventually become “community activists”, and then.../s;)
Not everyone CAN be...
That was not Ebonics!;)
Lerome might be Italian;)
Geroshe and Lerome?? LOL
They don’t have to tell us the race thanks to parents trying to be ‘original’.
Was this another beat down for TRAY-von?
It is sad to know there is so much potential in people, but we fall so far below what God intended. We weren’t meant to be animals. Modern culture celebrates the evil that lies in each of us, and we wonder why the civil society is deconstructing. 18 years old is just starting out, but the choices we make at that age can set the tone for the rest of our lives. So sad that these young men have chosen wrong.
I just read that they’ve arrested two men in Cali in the random shooting murdrs of two Chinese students last month....I think they also fit the “description”....
“So sad that these young men have chosen wrong.”
Let me guess. No father in the house. A mom on welfare. Drugs part of everyday life. A bizarre sense of entitlement from an inflated sense of victimhood.
This is the ultimate conclusion of a short life devoid of any social skills, education, morality, courtesy, motivation, respect for others, or fear of the Almighty.
Predictable as the sunrise.
Obviously white Americans of African decent....
Thank you for that information! I had not expected it. I suppose I would have seen this before too long, but I heard it from you first.
Geroshe is/was a senior, but he will not be returning to school.
Cripes, I wouldn’t venture a pronunciation of that stupid name.
