The real issue is that so much of America seems to reserve jobs for racial set-asides.
If that happened in my line of business I would write myself up as some favored ‘nority in every job application - simply as a protest.

Before MLK day was a holiday; we used to have ‘speakers’ about Black this-or-that in the afternoon, after lunch, where I worked.
One could get an hour off work just by going to these.
It was a great time to take a nap.
