Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, had the drug THC in his system the night of this death, according to new information obtained by ABC News.
The revelation came as prosecutors in the case prepared to release to the public hundreds of pages of new evidence along with videos and crime scene photos.
Martin's death sparked public outrage after police released Martin's shooter, George Zimmerman, without any criminal charges for the killing.
Zimmerman, 28, is a multi-racial Hispanic man who shot the black high school junior at close range on Feb. 26, and claimed self-defense, though Martin was unarmed. Zimmerman was later charged with second-degree murder, and the killing provoked widespread debate about racial profiling.

Excuse me but I call BS on that statement. THC may drive the subject to a foraging raid on the fridge, followed by a long rambling discussion of nothing much in particular, periodically punctuated by "I really love you man", which ends when the subject finally trips off to lullaby land for a nice restful nap. Rinse and repeat till the dope runs out.
Perhaps the writer was thinking of PCP, Crystal Meth, or maybe Ecstasy.

What’s the going rate for a DA’s office settling out-of-court a open-and-shut case of malicious prosecution brought against it?
I hope Zimmerman’s lawyers add a few extra zeros on the end for good measure.
Generally it tends to make you placid, some people it tends to make you paranoid and if someone has a predispostion to schizophrenia it can exacerbate it.
It's starting to sound like Trayvon might have been doing a little wanndering around on the way back home smoking a doobie, and was afraid he'd get busted if GZ called the cops on him. GZ said he ran from him and disappeared behind one of the buildings. It's possible he ditched the weed back there, then came back to confront GZ, and decided to play a little "Knock King".
It can make some people paranoid. Paranoia makes you do stupid things like attack neighborhood watch members.

Zimmerman’s observation is that he thought the guy was stoned.
Pretty astute.
My pothead neighbours (aeons ago) would spend all night doing bong hits, chowing down on whatever, and giggling like little girls.
They were ~20 year old “men”.
Mr. You are seriously hosing up the carefully crafted story line!
This is about destroying the rule of law...just like the Duke Lacrosse case and others. Politics trumps justice.

No apologies necessary. I figured sooner or later, he was probably going to be iced by another thug in a hoodie.
The drug causes dopamine release which produces euphoria. Some users feel sleepy or depressed after using, some experience anxiety or panic.
Even low doses of THC impair concentration and coordination.

No kidding,a doper watching sports with his dad wants to take a long leisurely walk to the store and back alone, hopefully we all knew they were going to find dope in him.
ABC seems to be the only one that commits to the case. The other news organizations have decided the case is not helpful for them, if not downright damaging their so-called reputation so they don’t bother with it.
Not one bit...he had the marijuana munchies and went out to buy some Skittles. Then the pot addled his puny brain enough to think he could beat the crap out of an unarmed George Zimmerman. Only problem was that George Zimmerman was armed and now idiot Treyvon is dead
I saw this summary of the whole event here earlier - it nails it:
This is a case where a brown Democrat killed a black Democrat and somehow it is the fault of white Republicans.
No kidding. I just heard on Fox radio news that Zimmerman had marijuana in his system! My first reaction was, "Oh, crap. That's not good." It never occurred to me that Fox was misreporting the names, and that it was Martin who had the marijuana in his system! Sheesh.
Sounds like a legitimate mistake on Fox's part. /s
