Last October, news broke that Shorter University, a Christian college in Rome, Georgia, had decided to ask its employees to sign a controversial pledge that affirms that they are not engaging in homosexuality, among other forbidden activities. They basically asked their staff to adhere to the Bible. Doesn't seem like too much to ask of a Bible college. However, there have been many liberals sneaking into the ranks of our seminaries (SBC) over the years and thankfully a purge is underway.

I see liberalism in the RCC...and I see many Catholics fighting it. I see the same in mainline protestant denominations. I get a newsletter from Presbyterians called "Theology Matters" that fights liberalism...same sex marriage in that denomination.

they are EVERYWHERE. I'm glad these 50 left. We are better for it.

I certainly hope they aren’t bruised by the door hitting them on their asses on their way out the door.

Is the Georgia Baptist Convention affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention?

Not QUITE the same. When was the last time you marches and parades and demonstrations in support of gossips, liars, thieves, people with critical attitudes? It isn’t that people sin, it’s that certain groups want their sins endorsed by everybody else.

No problem...I know for a fact that there are lots of unemployed Ph.D.’s in various fields who will be more than happy to take those jobs.

There is some good news.. New Sodom is not accepted by everyone..

NEXT; hiring practices should go under severe review that allowed hiring these reprobates..
No doubt there are a few stealth candidates left.. with questionable “values”..

Evidently “Baptist” don’t mean what it used to mean..
It is just a “word”...

How about having sex before married? Is it part of the pledge too?

As soon as the ... gossips, liars, thieves, people with critical attitudes ... are in the streets, media and the workplace, DEMANDING special rights and affirmation of their sins as a good and normal thing, they'll be singled out too.

It’s also a great way to advertise to heterosexuals that there are job openings.

if you read the article, the pledge covered a lot more than homosexuality. They also had to pledge no premarital sex, no adultery, regular church attendance, and more.

What are the other “activities” beyond homosexuality?

4. I will not use alcoholic beverages in the presence of students, and I will abstain from serving, from using, and from advocating the use of alcoholic beverages in public (e.g. in locations that are open to use by the general public, including as some examples restaurants, concert venues, stadiums, and sports facilities) and in settings in which students are present or are likely to be present. I will not attend any University sponsored event in which I have consumed alcohol within the last six hours. Neither will I promote or encourage the use of alcohol.

That kind of disqualifies all the so-called christians I know. Like I said, how many liars are left?

But then, what about gossips

Office gossip is as bad as homosexuality?

Really?

Which would you rather have your son announce at the family Thanksgiving dinner, that he gossiped yesterday or had butt-sex with the neighbor boy?

Take out the restrictions on alcohol usage and see how many sign. I couldn’t sign this for that one reason. I like a beer with dinner every so often.

Everything else I have no problem with.

“How about having sex before married? Is it part of the pledge too?”

Yes, @ post 20. Also, one can’t drink alcohol in a “public” place (e.g., a restaurant), or attend a university function within six hours of having consumed any alcohol.

It’s unfortunate The Blaze had to sensationalize one paragraph from the agreement in order to push their story while neglecting to mention paragraph number 4, which is most likely the reason these people failed to sign the agreement........Being a wine drinker in restaurants myself, I can’t blame them.

Good riddance!
Don't let the door hit ya... etc.

Hard to believe that the 3% pervert societal tail insists on wagging the dog, which is the 97% normal U.S. population.

Think you can't be replaced?
Good luck with that!

From last year....

Christian university asks staff to sign form stating they're not gay

By Daily Mail Reporter

A Christian university is asking its 200 employees to sign a 'Personal Lifestyle Statement' stating they are not gay.

Anyone at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia, who does not sign the statement faces being fired.

Don Dowless, president of the university, said the statement also requires staffers to reject premarital sex and adultery.

He said: 'I think that anybody who adheres to a lifestyle that is outside of what the biblical mandate is and of what the board has passed, including the president, would not be allowed to continue here.

'Anything outside that is not biblical, we do not accept.

'We have a right to hire only Christians.'

Now there are fears among staff that disgruntled co-workers could accuse others of being gay just out of spite.

One student, who did not want to be named, said the university is judging others, which is not what the Bible teaches.

Strict: University president Don Dowless says staff could face termination if they do not sign the new statement

Students do not have to sign the statement,  ajc.com reports.

New employees will have to sign it and existing employees will have to sign when their contracts are up for renewal.

The statement says: 'Failure to adhere to this statement may result in disciplinary action against me, up to and including immediate termination.'

The Personal Lifestyle Statement was one of several measures approved by the Board of Trustees on October 21 and presented to the campus on October 26.

The others include a 'Policy for Christian Education,' 'Biblical Principles on the Integration of Faith and Learning' and a 'Statement of Faith.'

By signing the Personal Lifestyle Statement, employees agree to reject 'all sexual activity not in agreement with the Bible, including, but not limited to premarital sex, adultery and homosexuality.'

Staffers must also agree not to drink alcohol when students are present or to promote the use of alcohol.

They must not touch illegal drinks and must be loyal to the mission of Shorter as a Christ-centered school affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention.

Mr Dowless said the practice of making employee sign a lifestyle statement is done at other Christian universities as well. Because Shorter doesn’t receive federal funding, the policy is legal.
