The Virginia House of Delegates rejected the judicial nomination of a gay prosecutor on Tuesday after conservative Republican lawmakers argued that the nominee would press an activist agenda.
Early on Tuesday morning, the House voted 33-to-31, with 10 abstentions, against the candidacy of Tracy Thorne-Begland, who was nominated for a judgeship on the General District Court in Richmond. Mr. Thorne-Begland, a deputy commonwealth attorney in Richmond, needed a majority of the 100-member House to be confirmed. He would have been the states first openly gay judge.
Mr. Thorne-Begland, a former fighter pilot, disclosed his sexual orientation as a Naval officer almost 20 years ago, in a challenge to the militarys "dont ask, dont tell" policy barring gays from service. He was honorably discharged after the disclosure.

A hyphen in a guy’s name? WTH? Either way, good for my state...Virginia! We don’t need your stinkin’ agenda.
Does the hyphen indicate his “married” name? This guy sounds like a professional troublemaker.
So he didn't get the judgeship? BFD. There is an abundance of lawyers in VA, and a few of them are not perverts.
20 votes short is not close when there are only 100 votes to be had.

Plus... “Tracy”
He should change his name to “Ben Dover.”
:)
He should change his name to Ben Dover.
...because Phil McCracken is taken?
If he had been appointed a judge would he have been addressed as Your Faggotness or Your Honor?
If useful, he’ll be another pawn trodded out there until another more suitable crisis lends itself to the succubus and his family of advisors; mainly the man-of-the-house Mitchel, and the little up-and-comming socialist feminist of our future: his adorable future Ava Perones. I stopped vomiting a week ago, because there is no use fighting these scum; I watch as they implode one idiot at a time. I wish to God that Jeopordy should disqualify Crissy-in-the-tingles-up-is-useless-bumhole for being a public nuisence, not to mention he’s not very good to look at.

so the guy already has a history of being an activist....funny thing about the NYSlimes; they applaud racist activists like satomayer when they are elevated to the supreme court and remain silent over conflict of interest with judges like kagan...and, oh yeh, applaud activist politicians such as those in NY who take the decision on issues like gay marriage out of the hand of the electorate...but gosh forbid when the shoe’s on the other foot....
If he is gay, he should be fired from his job as a prosecutor as he will show bias for defendants who are gay or victims who are gay and against straight defendants and straight victims.
He must be stopped.
Yes, a history of activism. That’s all any State needs, another homo jerk judge with a life long score to settle against society.
He would have been the states first openly gay notorious homosexually perverted judge.

There ... fixed it for 'em.
When will the New York Times learn to print the truth?
Nice one!
Good, just good.
Your post is an affront to the decent lawyers in Virginia, both of them.
Would the stool the judge sits on have to be turned upside down to accommodate him?
It seems readily apparent he would come to the bench with a specific ideological agenda and bias. He is better suited to serving in a legislative capacity if he wants to make “change.”
