From the article:

“What the government would have to prove is that Mr. Zimmerman acted out of hatred toward African-Americans. That's why he came into contact with him. That's why he shot and killed him," Sheaffer said.

--------------------------------------------------

That might be a tall order, because they would have to explain how, despite Zimmerman's volunteering to mentor underprivileged, i.e., black kids, he harbored all this hatred toward blacks. If the feds go through with this, it will be a huge and egregious waste of taxpayer money.

So why don’t they do something useful like investigating the Dept of Justice and ATF running guns?

I’m losing all respect for these people. How many race hate crimes have we seen in the past few weeks and they’ve done nothing! FBI is nothing more than the political police.

This exact story was widely discussed and - I believe - debunked yesterday:

The hate crime charge threat is purely political. They have zero evidence of that.

Be very careful what you say here lest it be used as evidence of your own thought crimes.

The charge in the end will be lying to the FBI. This is their usual last stand when they have nothing else. They are political animals not real cops.

I miss the old FBI when only a small amount of politics was involved. Miss the old FBI as much as I miss President Reagan.

Would like to tell a story of first hand experience when speaking on the phone with a present day FBI agent within the past year or two. A little background ... Was receiving calls at my location. The calls were from outside the country and were scam related. Called to inform the FBI. Was told by the agent the numbers were changed nearly everyday by the scammers, and the calls were from outside the country, thus no jurisdication and there was nothing which could be done. Noticed on the tele, last night, where an FBI agent was speaking to the press (locally). Speaking of the Incompetan0 if you see something, say something campaign, and speaking of the dollar amounts being taking via scams from America (16 billion last year reported) and that billboards had been erected in several states where the scams were prevalent. It was a warning ... nothing more ... and though was not stated, the policy is ... If you see something, say something, so we (who are in charge) can know you called while we (the FBI and your government) do nothing. Kind of made me laugh nervously.

Politics. Pure and simple. Feel better give us a call was the FBI agent's message. Dear FBI, not feeling better out here, after knowing what was told on the phone when I called.

If the feds go through with this, it will be a huge and egregious waste of taxpayer money.

And it would be an even bigger waste of Zimmerman's money, which is the means to the end -- don't investigate suspicious people, don't dare to challenge a low-class black criminal, don't fight back, and don't own a gun or use it.

We all knew the Feds would jump on this as well, despite any pretensions that they would "wait and see", and for these reasons.

State prosecutors said Zimmerman gave several inconsistent statements to Sanford police, which is, in part, their basis for charging him with second-degree murder.

The old "inconsistent statements" routine is the first and usually only strategy the police use when they have decided that they WILL arrest somebody regardless of the evidence. Just keep questioning the "suspect" over and over without a lawyer.

Since Zimmerman is 1/4 black, he must hate himself, too.

Bottom line is that it is a hate crime to defend yourself against one of Eric Holder's people.

I find this both discouraging and laughable. Consider all the things the FBI SHOULD be looking into -- corruption in the DOJ, the ATF, and the SS, to name just a few, and yet what are they doing?

Harrassing a guy who by all appearances is innocent. Of course, its bacause as soon as this case broke Obama had it incorperated into his reelection gameplan. Now the truth has come out about Trevor Martin, that he wasn't some sweet angel, but its too late for the left to backtrack. So they're bringin all their guns to bear.

Zimmerman VS the United States -- truly a terrifiying prospect for a private citizen considering how heavily invested the government is in one particular outcome, regardless of justice. This is what America has come to under Obama.

Regards,

Cope

Easily explained - he was a fox dressing up like a chicken until the opportunity came along...

It's truly frightening that the power of the Feds are being used in this fashion. If they make the move and get away with it, our options to prevent pure tyranny will be limited.
