Aggregator extraordinaire Matt Drudge briefly linked to Gawker’s story that alleged ABC’s Robin Roberts “wasn’t enthusiastic” about landing her big gay marriage interview with President Obama because she was worried it would call attention to the “near-open secret that Roberts is a lesbian” this afternoon and the site took the opportunity to taunt him with an update.
“Internet behemoth Matt Drudge, who has just directed his readers to this post, is also commonly understood to be gay,” the update said.
Mr. Drudge removed his link to Gawker within a matter of minutes.

I grew up in the ‘50s and being a queer then was definitely not cool and the rump rangers kept themselves in the closet.
And I—and 98 percent of the population—liked it that way.
Besides being an abomination, homosexuality has deprived us of a perfectly good adjective: “gay.”
I call him Matt Fudge.
I think Matt Drudge came out of the closet YEARS ago. I can’t remember, but I think he even put it on his page.
He may just be getting pi$$ed that maroons still try to make an issue of it.

There were 2 “gay” 90’s.
1890-1899 where men were men and women were women and nothing in between. Forgive the pun.
1990-1999 where some men were men and some women were women and everything in between.
The old “gay 90’s” related to a prosperous and happy period of time.
The new “gay 90’s” related to perversion, a blameless society, and a generation that had to “find oneself.”

I posted this link here every time Drudge bashed Newt or Rick in the primaries, so a lot. The Drudge gay story was making the rounds about 3 years ago, and seems to have multiple witnessed backing it up. Also remember Drudge and Coulter are good friends, both backed Romney heavily, savaged the other candidates, and Coulter is associated with the GOProud gay Republican group.
Yes, I believe the main purpose of the RNC and others backing Romney was because he was viewed as a pro-gay Republican. Which is why they actually seem upset at what Obama did this week. They wanted to get gay votes and support (hence why they kept claiming the election is “about the economy”), but Obama one-upped them as a direct counterattack against their pro-gay strategy and now the strategy is crumbling.
Of course it was a dumb strategy that could only be cooked up by out-of-touch urban elite beltway insiders, so this might actually help the Romney campaign if they embrace opposing Obama. But they haven’t been, and even seemed to have flip-flopped on backing a federal constitutional amendment to affirm marriage.

The idea of the people funding the Obama and Romney campaigns is to "distract" you with the economy while they slip passage of same-sex marriage through with either the courts, laws, or something else. You saying you only want to talk "about the economy" is playing right into their hands. Then no attention will be brought to what they're doing until it's too late.
