A Florida pastor considered to be President Obama's spiritual adviser says he was disappointed by the president's decision to publicly announce his support for same-sex marriage.
The Rev. Joel Hunter told MyFoxOrlando that the president called him before his announcement aired. Hunter, the evangelical pastor of the 15,000 member Northland church in Longwood, said the decision makes it harder to support the president though he will continue to do so.

The man needs to spend some time studying the word...actually, Jeremiah 1:5 would be a great starting place.

Some in the church believe that government programs = Biblical compassion or charity. This is why Catholics were (are?) so involved in ‘social justice’.
I’ve never understood how one could reconcile socialism with “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.” or “If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
I’ve had this discussion with Catholic leaders and they reference the Good Samaritan story. But the Samaritan gave from compassion - not compulsion, so I still don’t get it.
No where in my Bible does it tell me I can expropriate my neighbor’s funds to ‘do good’.
That being said, I think God is still more interested in our spiritual condition than our financial state, and I know Christ expects you to follow Him even in an oppressive regime.
