A state official who opted not to take a key Gaming Commission post amid controversy over past sex allegations will be welcomed back to his old job in the Patrick administration, the governor said yesterday.
Gov. Deval Patrick indicated yesterday that Carl Stanley McGee can have his old job back but warned that the states powerful Gaming Commission needs to quickly regain its focus.
I think we have had a number of distractions from the central work of the Gaming Commission, and the central work is about getting a new protocol and new framework for expanded gaming up and running, so we can get the job and economic benefit from that, Patrick told reporters yesterday. Id encourage the Gaming Commission to get on with that business.
McGee on Wednesday night announced he would not accept the job as acting executive director of the states Gaming Commission, amid a controversy over allegations of sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy in a steam room in Florida. McGee was never charged in the incident. Critics slammed the Gaming Commission for not vetting McGee more thoroughly.
McGee was once Patricks point man on casino gambling and had served as a $120,000-a-year administrator in the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development.
I hope hell come back, Patrick said.
Both McGee and the commission had come under scrutiny since McGees appointment earlier this month. On Wednesday, Rep. Dan Winslow announced he was hiring a former state police lieutenant to investigate the circumstances surrounding the allegations suggesting the controversy wouldnt end soon. Yesterday, Winslow said he has asked the investigator to stand down
Where there’s steam there’s smoke.
This alleged pedophile must have tape of Patrick doing something awful, if he can get his gig back.
MA is such a stinking pile of compost.

His party affiliation has been sanitized from the story.
If this had been a Republican Gov. the Boston Globe would be all over him like white on rice! I guess they expect it of Democrats, so it’s no big deal.
He’s married...to a guy? Ugh.
And, he, too, is a grad of Harvard Law...and a Rhodes Scholar.
Well, it certainly proves that exceptional educations don’t prevent pervs from being pervs.
I really feel sorry for the kid he alledgedly assaulted.
Gov. Patrick is a weakling.
