A high school classmate of presidential candidate Mitt Romney told ABC News today that he considers a particular prank pulled at Michigan's Cranbrook school to be "assault and battery" and that he witnessed Romney hold the scissors to cut the hair of a student who was being physically pinned to the ground by several others. "It's a haunting memory. I think it was for everybody that spoke up about it… because when you see somebody who is simply different taken down that way and is terrified and you see that look in their eye you never forget it. And that was what we all walked away with," said Phillip Maxwell, who is now an attorney and still considers Romney an old friend.

A hard ass, the "kick ass kid" is the conservative teen that witnessing something like this, would have intervened and kicked the bully's tail and would have been willing to face down his little posse.
Oh for heaven’s sake. Yeah, it was wrong, but he was a KID at the time. (Do they really expect us to believe that Obama did nothing wrong as a kid? Yeah, right.)
My favorite story of such incidents came from a military buddy of mine who grew up on the Wind River Reservation near Riverton, Wyoming. A popular sport for male bonding of the local cowboys and Indians was to go into town on a Saturday night, lasso longhairs and give them the sheep sheer treatment. Sometimes it was fueled by alcohol, sometimes it was just for fun.
The local law enforcement people were very worried once when a gang of motorcycle hippies from Denver threatened to ride up one summer night and teach the whole town a lesson.
The local cowboys and Indians were waiting for them and a fight ensured. There were no injuries beyond a few scratches and bruises, but the final outcome was one broken storefront window and a motorcycle gang of newly minted short-haired hippies limping out of town southbound on highway #789 to the raucous singing of a combined cowboy and Indian chorus.
Shearing hippies was evidently a fairly popular pass time in that era, especially in Rocky Mountain ranching towns.

Same here! I often heard the term and thought it was just someone weird.
It wasn’t till I got in the military (Served KP one day at the outprocessing homo barracks at Lackland AFB) that I was told what they were. I was so ignorant of it that I could not believe such a thing could be and said to myself, “NO! That is just not right! Not Natural!”
Since that time I have noticed little homo jokes in the last 80 years of movies.

Yes it’s all very interesting, in my view of things, if this incident occurred as reported (big if) Romney ranged from a wise ass to an all out A-hole.
However, it is difficult to assess where people stand 50 years later based on stuff they did in high school. As I already pointed out, why are the co-bullies now all wonderful sensitive guys, yet we are to assume that 50 years later Romney is not a better man?
Answer: Because they support Obama and Romney is running against Obama.
And as for my observation, yes many people view Romney as wimpy but this incident will lead many to believe he was a tough guy in high school.
The almost totally biased article tries to make you think Maxwell is a republican, by saying he “would have” voted for Romney’s father and he has not contributed or volunteered for Obama.
That leaves a lot of ground to be covered. I “would have” voted for JFK, and I have neither contributed or volunteered for Romney as yet.
Guess my party affiliation, and who I’m voting for?
The guy is an Obama supporting democrat liberal. Period. And he is doing this for the same reasons I will vote for Romney: Much bigger reasons.

Give it a rest, I accurately pointed out that in many people’s eyes this will seem to give Romney a “tough” side. If you want to say “mean” side that works as well.
Many people out there are hell raisers my friend, that is reality. I suffered plenty of bullying as a kid and I will gladly vote for Romney, every one of the 100 reasons having absolutely nothing to do with this high school story.
It has always been my opinion that despite his constant smile, Romney is actually a mean assed sob. I don’t have to kiss him, I just want him to beat Obama and institute some conservative policies.
The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
