North Carolinians voted to change the state constitution Tuesday to say that the only valid "domestic legal partnership" in the state is marriage between a man and a woman, according to the AP's projection. The amendment passed 61 to 39 percent with most counties reporting, making North Carolina the 29th state with a gay marriage ban in its constitution.
The state already outlawed gay marriage, but the constitutional amendment makes it more difficult for politicians to ever change the law. The amendment also means that a handful of North Carolina municipalities that extended benefits to the domestic partners of their employees will no longer be able to do so, since marriage is now the only valid legal partnership in the state....

Guess they'll be moving to a sodomite state now .......mass migration to Massachusetts would be fine with me all under Romneycare! Containment can be a healthy thing for the rest of the population.
That’s why they took the constitutional amendment route, so no judge could block legislation which has happened in many states.

That didn’t stop California courts from declaring their constitutional amendment unconstitutional. Makes a whole lot of sense, doesn’t it? Sort of like saying the amendment repealing prohibition was unconstitutional because the Constitution says prohibition is okay.

The measure added a new provision, Section 7.5 of the Declaration of Rights, to the California Constitution, which provides that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”[2][3][4]
On February 7, 2012, in a 21 decision, a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals panel affirmed Walker’s decision declaring the Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage to be unconstitutional.[15] The panel also unanimously affirmed Judge Ware’s holding that Walker was not obligated to recuse himself from the case because he is gay.[16] Still, the panel continued a stay on the ruling, barring any marriages from taking place pending further appeals.[17]
Good on N. Carolina. Just curious for a list of the 29 states who have banned same sex marriage now if someone can post. And is it on the upcoming ballot for any others? Would consider right up there with state income taxes and pro-gun law as a reason to choose a retirement state.
Money well spend.
I contributed heavily to this campaign, and I don’t even live in NC. But I knew the Soros/Gill money flowing into the state needed some measure of balancing out. (I understand that the pro-amendment side was outspent 2 to 1.)
I believe it’s 31 now.
So will the gays boycott North Carolina because of this ban on gay marriage?
Could be a problem because the Democratic National Convention is in Charlotte this year. Will the Democrats move their convention to appease gays? What to do, what to do?
Its not easy being politically correct and all, you know. Especially in a election year.
I love it.
I think the California constitutional amendment against same sex marriages was over turned my a federal judge.
The Colorado civil-union bill has now died in the state house.
Makes me feel better about our upcoming vacation in N. Carolina!
Good on them North Carolinians! State number 30...way past a majority. A few more will indicate that a US Constitutional amendment would surely pass too.
We need to show the good Lord that the vast majority of Americans are opposed to any recognition of this perversion as trying to be claimed “normal,” or as legally a “marriage.”

Obama’s Disasterous Firsts as President

Back when the Defense of Marriage act was getting kicked around Congress the radical homosexuals were whining for state’s rights. Now that gays are losing their battle in states, they want Obama or Romney to champion their cause. People like their millennia celebrated tradition of marriage being a contract between members of the opposite sex. People don’t want homosexuals teaching homosexuality to their kids in school.
After 150 years I think it might be time to give it another try.
“Libs arent sweating this.”
It exposes the BS that anywhere near one half of Americans support “deviant marriage”; it has failed every place it was put on a ballot, and we’re still supposed to believe these drive-by media stories that over half of Americans support this evil.
“And the Democrats think North Carolina will go for Obama later this year? Seriously?!”
CA voted overwhelmingly for Obama and Prop 8 passed on the same ballot in 2008.
This amendment not being on the ballot in Nov may actually help Obama.
A homo federal judge if I recall correctly.
The really sweet part is that it passed 61 percent to 39 percent. Hooray for the Tar Heel state!
Yippee, NC!
Excellent work.
Can't happen. Now that Maine, with it's new Gov, half of New England is no longer Sanctuary territory. For you to send a LBGT/Illegal here in MA, another will have to first move out.
