An investigator for the Interior Departments Inspector General claims the White House hindered an investigation into a report on the BP oil spill by blocking access to a key official and email records, the New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting.
The investigator was trying to determine whether the White House intentionally edited the report to create the false impression that outside experts supported the administration's call for a moratorium on offshore drilling. The White House had said the editing was a mistake, and the Inspector Generals final report concluded it was.
But the investigator, in a series of emails obtained by the newspaper, disagreed.
"I truly believe the editing 'WAS' intentional -- by an overzealous staffer at the White House. And, if asked, I, as the case agent, would be happy to state that opinion to anyone interested," Richard Larrabee, senior special agent assigned to investigate the matter for the Department of Interior's inspector general, wrote, according to the Times-Picayune.
Larrabee, in emails to his supervisors, said he was disappointed that the final IG report "makes no mention" of the White House's refusal to allow investigators to interview Joe Aldy, a White House official involved in the editing of the spill report, the Times-Picayune reported.

Soon to be, unemployed 'senior special agent....', Richard Larabee.
The sad thing is you are probably correct, he will be a former senior special agent....the charge, he went outside the lines in speaking to the press. He will be in the same boat as the IG who got fired after looking into a scandal in Sacramento which involved one of Obongo’s associates.
Let’s see, Walpin was deemed to be senile, so I guess it will not be a stretch to call a “senior” special agent, having diminished mental capacity.
Seems to me we knew this was true over a year ago.
There is no end to the criminality of this adminstration. They hush hushed much of the spill occurring on his watch...yet if it was Bush, we’d still be hearing about it. Oh, wait..
Really surprised the T-P published this.
After Obama is defeated, we should bring charges against Obama for gross dereliction and to all in his administration and let the squealing begin.
the spill is a trans-political issue for the gulf coast and nola, though I don’t know how they covered it in the past.
Just surprised they would be critical of the White House, no matter what the issue.
